WASHINGTON: President George Bush said on Wednesday that he had spoken to President General Pervez Musharraf and urged him to end the state of emergency and give up his military post. “My message was very plain … The US wants you to have the elections as scheduled and take your uniform off,” Bush said at a joint press conference here with French President Nicolas Sarkozy. Sarkozy said Musharraf should hold elections in Pakistan “as rapidly as possible”.
