ISLAMABAD (2007-11-13 14:17:48) :

Interior Ministry of Pakistan said on Tuesday denied reports it was planning to forcibly remove opposition leader and PPP chairperson Benazir Bhutto from house arrest in Lahore and fly her back to her home city.

“There is no truth in the reports that Benazir Bhutto is being shifted to Karachi from Lahore. There is nothing of the sort,” Interior Ministry spokesman Javed Cheema told AFP.

Ms. Bhutto, who was placed under house arrest in Lahore to prevent her leading a mass protest against emergency rule, said earlier that she was unaware of any such plans, which reportedly involved a C-130 military transport plane.

“Of course they can use force to take me, but how long can force silence the people?” she told Britain’s Sky News in response.

“No matter how many of us they lock up there will still be others to protest against the tyranny that is destroying Pakistan,” she said.

A Pakistani security official speaking under cover of anonymity said there were no plans so far to move her.
