Update regarding the protest lead by Imran Khan in Lahore near PU today (November 14, 2007)

Heavy deployments of police at campus bridge. Apart from police in uniform, many cops are roaming around in plain clothes around Barkat market and nearby areas, trying to resists as many people as possible to assemble at the chowk.

The protesters are scattered, will assemble in 30 minutes.

    Apparently the students are divided on allowing Imran to join their protest. They don’t want it to be politicized. Imran should have gathered the sentiments before showing up. Now he’s in a bit of a hole.

    Rumor that cops in plain clothes have locked Imran Khan somewehere in
    PU and its not Jamiat. But, its a rumor, can not be confirmed as yet.

    Update:

    Imran Khan has been taken away (or arrested) by a few ’sufaid-posh’ who were most probably cops.
