“We were brutally lathi-charged [Baton Charged]. Got hit thrice on my head and then on my arms and hands when I tried to protect my head. Women were punched. Head hurts but we didn’t give in. They were forced to let us move forward. We’re outside the Islamabad Press Club now.”

What are you guys standing up for anyway? You have no goal in sight, only like to make noise and protest and be seen on cameras. You are the violent people who want to destroy Pakistan! You stand up for corrupt politicians like Nawaz and Benazir who know nothing about running a country, only stealing money!!

We have had the best economic times during military rule. Military is organized and powerful institution and will save our country. We should be proud of our military! Long live Pakistan Fauj!

Sajid, this is exactly what we are struggling for - one’s right to disagree - freedom of speech, thought and action under the law.

And opposing Musharraf is not an automatic endorsement of Nazwaz and BB. We are all Pakistanis and we need and deserve better leadership. The movement by the lawyers, judidicary, students, media, and the civil society is a step towards creating new leadership and a better future.

As for running the country lets look at the list of General Musharraf’s achievements: steel mill scandal, habib bank scandal, other privatization scandals, the stock market scandal, sugar scandal, wheat scandal, the chief justice scandal, civil strife in baluchistan, civil strife in NWFP, murder and mayhem by MQM in karachi, suppression of media, judiciary, politicians. You tell me is booming economy in two provinces worth civil war in the other two provinces. He has brought the country on the verge of disintegration.

Musharraf has already given everything he could to the country. It is time for new leadership.

A fractured and imperfect democracy is always better than any kind of dictatorship. It is only through a process of elections and adult franchise that we can evolve into a democratic society. Let the electrorate decide on who they want to vote in and out of office. But they can only do so if we have a truly independent judiciary and election commission. Can Musharraf guarantee that?

Progress has to be measured not in the short term (as Mush’s government tries to project with their growth rates) but in the long term. And so at the end of the 8 years of his autocratic rule what does he have to show? A country that has been brought down to its knees with all institutions systematically destroyed. No country can survive such an assault on its institutions and continue to progress.

Musharraf and his coterie of collaborators are never the solution because they are part of the problem. How dare he make us suffer Wasi Zafar, Sher Afghan Niazi, Shaikh Rasheed and the other cartoons? Are we imbeciles who cannot hear and see and comprehend what is going on? Does the Pakistani nation deserve such buffoons? And I agree with Ahmed that opposing Musharraf is not an automatic endorsement of BB or Nawaz. But if through a fair and free elections they come to power, so be it. If they cannot deliver, they will be thrown out, next time around. But only if we have a truly independent and free judiciary.

In the years to come, this period, and especially since November 3, 2007, will be written as the darkest period in Pakistan’s history. A sitting general suspends the judges of the Supreme Court and gets himself ‘elected’ as President.

Is this some kind of a joke? If it is it is a sick one.

I can’t understand why do Pro-Musharraf minority insisst on illusive economic progress. The whole bubble is burst into worst economic and food crisis for Pakistanis. If you people have a little bit of right sense, you won’t hide behind the fake fence of enonomic growth.

    By supporting Musharraf you:
support Army’s crook and mischevious role in Public affairs.

Stop supporting Musharraf as well as Army Inc. These people existed in 1971 also. they were meriting ruthless slaughter of Bangladeshi people in the name of fake stability and patriotism. Shame on you.

How dare you people still support Musharraf Regime. Shame on you.

    Dear Sir/Madam,
    Where are we going ….?

Muhammad Ali Jinnah, The FATHER OF NATION, in his 11 August 1947 Speech to the Constituent Assembly made it adequately clear that it would be a comprehensive and pluralistic democracy promising equal rights for all citizens regardless of religion, caste or creed, Pakistan was born as democratic state. In fact it has been failure of Pakistan socio-political system ,where in, Pakistani people are left at distant from the corridor of power so that the ruling elite, can do what they wanted to do in favors of their interest, leaving the Pakistani people at the mercy of circumstances. As this policy is denial of right of Pakistani people to rule their country according to their aspiration and desire to build this country, which can provide equal opportunity to all without any discrimination for the establishment of welfare society the dream never, come true till today.

Because of corrupt politician of Pakistan the army was tempted again and again to place for one after another military rule. It would be wrong to blame Pakistan army wholly for having usurped power for more than half of its life. It was in fact feudal corrupt politician that facilitated first martial law in Pakistan.

There can be no denying that Chief of CIA and his brother John Foster Dulles who was then Secretary of State who played key role in bringing Pakistan under martial law the feudal politician were responsible for the army rule. As unfolding the situation that brought Pakistan under martial law. Altaf Gauhar, biographer of Ayub Khan writes, Americans convinced their friend Iskander Mirza to handover power to Ayub Khan on 7 October 1958. Had there been shrewd political leadership in Pakistan in 1958, perhaps democracy would have taken firm roots in our country. Again, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto shown eagerness and patience during 7 March 1977 elections not to speak of Pakistan coming under martial law, perhaps, would have been alive and ruling at present. He would have most likely won a majority, even if not two thirds of majority. Apparently it was again weak handling of the post-Kargil war situation by political leadership that catapulted General Musharraf to power.
    .
However, it is not for the first time that people of Pakistan have spoken in favors of democracy, but whenever they got a break, they manifested their faith in democracy, so they did it on 18 February 2008, but did it work, no, therefore in order to get rid of socio-economic grievances we need to change the system at large. We did not have any outcome during change of faces since last 60 years. Is this not enough for a nation or do we need more humiliation or loss to the nation before we learn the lesson ?

The Political leadership in Pakistan needs to understand that it was people’s anger against the establishment that went into the ballot-boxes, and not one but all the political parties that have benefited from the popular rise, be obliged it to the voting public to work in combination, because no single party is in a position to go it alone. It seems that the wisdom from past mistakes has distilled upon Pakistan leadership and there is all likelihood of emergence of a national consensus for running of the country.
It will be difficult to expect any thing positive at this stage because, return of political leadership of PPP and PML(N) to Pakistan was subject to condition, political coalition cannot take creative action or dare to change policy of the national interest till general Musharaf is as president, current government need to take patriotic political decision in the interest of Pakistan without fear of American anger or their commitment and support during mediation process with USA.

Presidents and Prime Minister have come and gone in the past but it did not make a difference, regarding President Musharaf role about Country , there can be no two opinions as to whose, approach was proper or in the interest of people of Pakistan. No political party that was in the election arena raised a finger against the centralized power in the hands of one person or few of them Nobody talk about to empower the Pakistani at grass route level, why? Because they to, want to grab, total power in their own hand so how politician differ from musharaf mean all eggs are one and the same in the basket.

We have already lost the major part of Pakistan in 1971 simply to save the centralized sole power in the hands of ruling elite to exploit this country by the ruling leaders they let the country break in part then allowing the masses to rule this country democratically. In the present circumstances we are again dragging our sovereignty at stack for the external interest in the name of national interest, instead of our interest i.e. the interest of Pakistani people at large.

That mean only the society base on tolerance, equality and justice can be the real guarantee for the prosperous and strong Pakistan there for your intent is invited to the crucial movement which could be the point of distraction or disaster.

The only way -out of these crucial circumstances is to empower the common Pakistani at grass route level i.e. the change of system. This change is inevitable for the prosperous Pakistan .As a citizen of this country I have try to provide an alternate socio-political system to empower the masses at grass route level for rapid industrial and agriculture development with transparency and accountability in the system. Along with basic guarantees for the creation of welfare state, where in public representative and institution shall be answerable and accountable to the masses. I alone cannot make the change but together we can turn the table, and make the dream come true.

    Dear Sir/Madam,
The Youth- ONLY HOPE FOR THE FUTURE OF PAKISTAN.

The role of youth in the rebuilding of Pakistan should be envisaged and elaborated in such a way that it becomes easy to address the grievances and suggest ways out of it, so that a new era of dawn can be started. Since the creation of Pakistan, the Pakistani is deprived of their basic right to rule this country according to their aspiration and dream. At the same time, the real strength for the development along with their internal skill i.e. the youth power of Pakistan was left alone in isolation at the mercy of circumstances and their basic right to get the development opportunity without any discrimination was denied. Pakistan is a country of diversified culture and traditions. It is a nation of one hundred sixty million diverse people ranging from having skill within, having no opportunity to utilize the skills, and those who need help and guidance for development of skills to utilize. Pakistan is a melting pot of creative ideas and god gifted skill. But it needs organized planning and a system to develop and utilize these skills for rapid development in industrialization and agricultural sector.

Though the youth of Pakistan is still under its formative phase, they have the ability to increase vast production processes and providing substantial training to the masses in all parts of the country. According to the vision of the father of the nation, Pakistan was to be a democratic country based on the concept of equal citizenship for all Pakistani, irrespective of their color and creed. As per Jinnah’s vision, Pakistan had to facilitate vibrant economic opportunities by curbing corruption and partiality. Although this speech was censored by those who wanted to create confusion, derail democracy, and deny the development as per aspirations of Pakistani.

The Youth of Pakistan, the “Nation Builders”, are also nullified and ignored in sharing the rewards given to us by our mother land. The country, which was established after countless sacrifices of our forefathers to attain the liberty, prosperity and peace, simply. For being free and prosperous Pakistani. But, In return, our rulers have given this country nothing but a gloomy future, poverty and betrayal. As a result, our youth has been connotated as “Young Seagulls” trying to fly without feathers towards their destiny. Pakistanis in their quest for real freedom continue to struggle to get free from the shackles of ruling elites, encircle us. Whenever a person rises up for something new in his mind, it is pressed down as being a “rebellious thought”.

The question is, to what extent such a paralyzed mind and body can serve the nation? In fact, the “Nation Builders” themselves need overhauling and ample space to fly. Unless and until, we develop an optimistic thinking and unshackled of the chained, our journey to the country’s prosperity cannot reach its destination. We should not lose the right path for the fear of being followed by absurdities and unfair means, like a dark shadow. Islamic Democratic Party has decided to give the rain of socio-political change in the hand of new generation in Pakistan. IDP wants them to read and understand the program and come forward to lead this party at grass route level to decide the fate of their future destination and take power in their hands.

As the Pakistani people, have been left at a distance from the corridor of power so that the ruling elite can do what they wanted to do in favor of their interest, leaving the Pakistani people at the mercy of circumstances. This policy is an outright denial of the right of Pakistanis to rule their country according to their aspiration and desire to build this country, which can provide equal opportunity to all, without any discrimination for the establishment of welfare society. Only the society based on tolerance, equality and justice can be the real guarantee for a prosperous and strong Pakistan.

Islamic democratic party has accepted this challenge to rationalize the system from its base of centralization of sole power, controlled by the feudal and mighty elites, to the new base of decentralization of power in the hands of Pakistani at grass route level so that the route cause of deprivation, hatred and poverty could be eliminated and Pakistan can become a prosperous, developed state without any discrimination. Under the name and banner if Islamic Democratic party (IDP), the power should transfer at divisional level within the provinces with financial, administrative and political power to establish real democracy in Pakistan. The divisional council will be responsible for providing the basic guarantee for the people living or settled in the division with transparency and accountability of the public representative and institution, where as provinces should be based on democratic division and the centre should be based on democratic provinces. There will be no politician in the senate but experts form all walks of life, including religious scholars assuring that no law can pass in NA against the law of Allah.

We have already lost the major part of Pakistan in 1971 simply to save the centralized sole power to exploit the resources of this country, they let the country breaking, in a part then allowing the masses to rule this country democratically. In the present circumstances they are again dragging our sovereignty at stack for the external interest in the name of national interest, instead of our interest i.e. the interest of Pakistani people at large.

The only way out of these crucial circumstances is to empower the common Pakistani at grass route level i.e. the change of system.

We invite the youth of Pakistan to take the rain in their hands and lead the nation in right direction.
