Hunger Strike Camp to demad release of detainees

On the call of Students Action Commitee, Lahore the students from FAST, LUMS, PU and other institutes gathered at Lahore Press Club to continue their protests. To demand the release of their detained friends, the protesters organized a hunger strike camp starting 11 AM, Saturday, 8th December, 2007

Around a hundred students responded to the call to show solidarity to the detainees and to pressurise the establishment to release them. They were informed by the Police later in the evening that the detainees will be released on Monday. The cops pressurised the protesters to leave the place, shutting down the camp. The students refused and decided to continue their camp through the night to show their seriousness to the cause. At the time of writing this, around 50 students including a few females are present on this camp - foothpath around the Lahore Press Club, and have plans to stay there and continue the hunger strike till their friends are released. Deployments of police have surrounded the protesters’ camp.
