As Bilawal Bhutto Zardawi made his first public appearance before the world, his father announced the boy would from now on be known by his mother’s name - Bhutto.
Three days after Benazir Bhutto’s assassination, Bilawal Bhutto finds himself inheriting not just one of the most celebrated names in politics, but a history steeped in power and bloodshed.
He has been chosen as the chairman of the Pakistan People’s Party. It is a party founded and always led by a Bhutto.
While friends of Benazir say she always envisaged Bilawal becoming her political heir, they agree that she would not have wanted him to have to bear that burden so young.
Only 19 years of age, Bilawal is still some way from completing his education.
He has followed his mother to Oxford University, where he studies history, and he says he will complete his studies before entering the maelstrom of Pakistani politics.
He is described as a keen sportsman, enjoying cricket, shooting, horse-riding and Taekwondo.
In joining Oxford’s Christ Church college, he also followed in the footsteps of his grandfather, Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, Pakistan’s first elected prime minister and founder of the PPP, who was executed under martial law in 1979.
Bilawal also echoed his mother’s own experience of tragedy when he quoted her at his first press conference.
“My mother always said democracy is the best revenge,” he declared, raising his voice.
But he looked not entirely at ease as party supporters broke into chants of: “Bilawal, step forward! We are with you!”
‘Want to help
Born in September 1988, a month before his mother was elected prime minister, Bilawal was given a name meaning “one without equal”.
Since then he has spent most of his life outside Pakistan, travelling with his mother, who went into self-imposed exile in 1999, moving between London and Dubai.
In an interview in 2004 he was asked if he wanted to enter Pakistani politics.
“We will see, I don’t know. I would like to help the people of Pakistan, so I will decide when I finish my studies,” he said.
He has been forced into a decision even earlier.

WTF! This just goes to show that PPP is not even closely a believer in democracy. We’re not living in the freaken stone ages, although Larkana may still be thanks to the bhutto’s keeping it a backward area.
I hate Musharraf for pushing us into this shit hole. The !@#%% will retain his chair, but the country is now royally screwed. Burn in hell!

There is some conception in PPP that the Bhuttos have some royal, magical blood pumping in their veins. Rather than pushing more experienced and educated people on the forefront, they are propelling a 19 year old who grew up in Dubai to head the party. Even if you do want a symbolic icon of the ‘martyred’ family - you don’t have to make him the PPP chairperson. I mean I just don’t get this party. They are more like a celebrity image now than any real ideological or meaningful agenda.

we need democracy withing parties as well .. In India all parties are fully democratic …. we are just too far from that … PPP just can’t exist without a bhutto as its head and thats why the poor bilawal even had to change name ….

Remarks: You seem to be taking it to personal Maria.. PPP is alive because of the sacrifices of Bhutto family..We love Bhutto family so we love PPP..
We are unfortunate that we don’t have power to vote Bilawal to be more than a PPP chairperson or else we had even made him President of Pakistan.. Anyways Maria! he is than also better than illiterate molvis and other leaders.. he is studying in Oxford where i don’t think you or your beloved 60-year old leader can compete Bilawal’s educational background. He might understand Economy more than others with sincere youth approach.. So Maria please keep your personal hatred to you only..as we are lovers of Bhutto and can’t listen on Bhutto family..

Bilawal, though is too young to lead the people, but has gems to enter into the arena of politics. He is inherently capable to kick off his journey to become a politician. The blood of Benazir is running in his vains. So we wish him a very good luck.
But he must remember the difficulties and obstacles roaming all the time in this country. He recognize the ruthless sharks, wolves, killers, assassins, mudrers, mercinaries,fanatics,redicals,Wahabi/Salafi nexus, power hungry GENERALS,Al-Qaeeda,Taliban and above all the monster NEO-CONS, who killed his grand father with the help of monster ZIA. However Zia went to hell straight sent by his masters.
Politics in Pakistan is not a flower bouquet, but full of thorns. So he has to have a clear vision before jumping into the dungeon.
Zia ramnents are all the time active to carry out dirty tectics. Bilawal must show courage and bravery to check the power of the killers, who killed his grand father, two uncles and now mother. God bless him and give him courage to face the mommat difficulties ahead.

@Sanam
Popular political parties have internal elections in them. The logic behind that is simple. You propel ppl on merit forward not on dynastic bloodlines.
Its the same reason why you would appreciate a country in which leaders are voted in on basis of past preformance and merit. Would you like to keep having the one family become president/pm again and again? If you do, then say that you want a monarchy not a democracy.
PPP called itself a populist political party - however BB has been CHAIRPERSON FOR LIFE for the past 23 years. She apparently kicked out her brother and mother in this quest of keeping party politics centered on her leadership. When she was assasinated, she left the party leadership to her husband, and he to his son. Does this make sense? Where is the merit?
This my friend, is a description of an elite political party which cannot even stand merit in its own party ranks. So I guess the rest of the party workers are slaves. They have no chance in controlling the shape of PPP’s policies. What do you think?
If you are a PPP voter, does it not bother you that in a party in which leadership is passed from father to daughter to sometimes the mother, then back to the daugther till she leaves the leadership to the husband. And he gives to the son.
Do you see yourself, the voter, or the party member anywhere in the equation?
Lastly, yes Oxford is a nice, respectable college. However I am sure you are also to some extent educated. Whether you are educated locally or abroad perhaps you have some good ideas and energy to give back to the country via your political party. Do you feel you can step up and aspire to be in the position that has been handed over to this 19 year old chap? Not a very tough question. Of course NOT! Baba, you need the Bhutto blood ! and that I’m sure you won’t get even if you did go to all the oxfords of the milky way!

Merit??? Which one of your leader has merit?? Do you understand the term LEADERSHIP?? I think u don’t.. Because leadership doesn’t need one to be PhD etc.. It requires a few characteristics that people love.. You never know what make people crazy for a single fellow as a leader?
Maria! you speak too much. so CAN U BE A LEADER??
CAN YOU COMPETE ZULFIQAR ALI BHUTTO OR BB OR BILAWAL??
Do you trust in a verse “ALLAH JISKO CHAHEY IZZAT DEY JUSKO CHAHE ZILLAT” do you believe in that??
Well what to speak with you as you can’t respect anyone due to your personal hatred… you use “KICK” again and again that shows your aggression and race problem.. JISKO KHUDA IZZAT DE, HUMAN should also respect that person..
AND DO READ THE LEADERSHIP TRAITS BEFORE MAKING ANY SILLY STATEMENTS.

It doesn’t bother me at least.. As I like them all.. Well it is not kingdom. THEN WHY PEOPLE LOVE THEM?? WHY PEOPLE BECOME THEIR FAN?? WHY THEY ELECTED BB AND WHY THEY LOVE BILAWAL?? It is something personal to them, it is NOT FORCED (as in KINGDOM) ..
This is what we call democracy dear!! We bring by vote not by force.. we are not forced to love BB or Bilawal.. but we are forced to follow militants. We want to bring democracy by electing whom we love and think can bring the new dawn to our Pakistan..
You cant help if we PPP followers love whole Bhutto family.. love is in our own access so we do not need to answer for why we love any one!!! We love Bhutto Family… so will do always.. as per the followers they all intelligent, honest, patriotic people.. We respect them.. and will vote them too. Vote is out right. We do not need to answer others for our vote…

i agree with Maria..im not an anti PPP or something but i think Maria makes sense..she is rational n im sorry Sanam Mukhtar ur just bein emotional and though i respect ur emotions but you need to face the truth: PPP is a political party n not some “jaidad” being inherited from one generation to another. I agree that Bilawal might have the leadership qualities inherited from, the vibrant and influential leaders of Pakistan, his mother n grandfather, but then again thats not definite as he is just a 19 year old teenager(btw do u know the minimum age to be selcted as a chairman for a political party is 22) who hasnt even completed his education yet, he has a long way to go before he is able to prove anything. however, on the other hand PPP has many experienced and well trained workers with great leadership qualities who deserve a chance and i guess u shud not be denying that keeping in mind Oxford is not a liscence for leadership.
QUOTE Sanam Mukhtar: there is not a single reason dear.. many reason are there that make people mad for a leader.. just think kuch khaas toh hoga in th em that people love them.
like what?his good lucks? no offense but over here i see some ppl emphasising on that only…neways coming to the point we need to be more practical and reasonable and rather than just “LOVING the leadership charactersitics” and emphasising on statements such as “The blood of Benazir is running in his vains” we need to have a more justifiable approach towards the country, which shud come first and prior to any politcal party, cast etc.

this is purely a political trick ,according to what seems logical with a political point of view ,asif ali zardari is alo an experienced player in politics ,he is shooting his bullets by keeping his gun on bilawal’s shoulder . as now this young boy at such a tender age is the prime face of the pakistani politics as well as the ppp ,he will be the one who will be bearing al the harsh winds of the pakistani politics while asif ali zardari sits back comfortably in a safe position playing his cards. what a mind game has he played…
it seems this boy has been forced into politics at a time when he cannot review his decision logically i.e. at the time of his mother’s demise.
and when he’ll realise it’ll be too late for a reversal of situation .he has been pushed to a point of no return.
i dont have more words torealise the painand agony i feel for him …its just painfull…what ever Benazir was to the world but to him she was his mother…his friend, philosopher and guide …the void from this loss can never be filled…

Nimi, so what you’re saying essentially is that the PPP belongs to the Bhuttos and only a Bhutto can be in power. How is that different from what Maria said? She commented that the PPP is running like a monarchy and you have just reinforced her statement.
29 Amir Ali // Jan 2, 2008 at 1:58 am
Pakistan needs politics based on logic and rational, underpinned by the ideas of fairness and justice. The decision by the PPP to appoint Bilawal is massively disappointing and hugely unjust. It makes a complete mockery of the political party system in Pakistan and, more worryingly, is in fact a complete affront to the idea of a Pakistan based on democratic principles, which, apparently, late Benazir Bhutto purported to stand for (!).
What is plainly puzzling, and ironic beyond belief, is that Mrs Bhutto based her entire “comeback” upon the restoration of ‘democracy’ in Pakistan, (which Pakistan DID actually have in the form of Prime Minister Aziz and other predecessors), yet the appointment of Bilwal and Asif Zardari as co-chairmen of the PPP was made with a complete disregard for democracy, representing a decision based on monarchistic values, with the PPP being treated as being the ‘property’ of the ‘Bhuttos’ (hence Mrs Bhutto addressing the leadership of the PPP in her ‘Will’.
What is doubly depressing is the fact that this is yet again a step in the wrong direction for Pakistan, and will see the re-gression, not progression, of Pakistan.
How a 19yr old, (who is still studying and has spent very little time in Pakistan and is, both, emotionally and mentally under matured), along with Mr Zardari, a tainted figure tarnished with heavy and serious corruption charges and jailed for 8 years, are appropriate choices as chair/s of the one of the most popular parties in Pakistan is completely beyond comprehension.
This decision is a slap in the face for the intellectuals, educated and moderate majority in Pakistan, living in Pakistan, who would be much better suited to being the leader of a party that represents the people of Pakistan.
Decisions based on logic and rational as well as justice and fairness, as opposed to those made on illogical emotional feelings, (the ‘blood’ of the four Bhuttos is no more ‘Redder’ than the blood of those thousands, 15 of whom died with Mrs Bhutto, and another 140 who died in Karachi on Oct. 18, who have died in the last 30 years in the politics of the PPP and Pakistan overall), will will do much more to bring the much needed change to Pakistan that it so desperately needs.
What is even more frustrating is that, yet again, the interests of the Pakistani people have been sidelined, as this decision is based more so on the politics of capitalisation at the voting booths, i.e. through hoping to capitalise on the ’sympathy vote’, than it is for the benefit of the people of Pakistan.
I, like many other Pakistanis living in the UK and elsewhere in the world, hope for the best for the future of Pakistan, and hope that people can put emotions on one scale and logic and fairness on the other, and can come to the conclusion that no one person/family can be any more or less important or significant than any other Pakistani citizen.
Everyone has the ability to make a positive change for the country they live in, and the environment should be one that is accordingly so, so that Pakistan, for the sake of progression, is a society where meritocracy and not aristocracy is the determining factor when it comes to appointing people in jobs and positions of power, and elsewhere for that case.

the loss of bb is great national tragedy and may her family come out of these grievious moments soon. she is shaheed, a brave lady given her life for democracy she will be in our hearts for ever. PPP now has to led the pakistan to road of democracy the way she wants and choosing bilawal as chairman is a great decision it will keep the party intact and i wish that he will be good for country he deserved that place but he is too young and pakistani politics is too bad i wish him success for future and may he live long.

Bilawal also has the blood of an equally corrupt father. Who’s to say he won’t turn out like his father? Especially now that he does not have his mother, only his father to guide him? With no experience, an incomplete education, a corrupt politician as co-chairman, I fail to see how you can say with such certainty that “he has all what it takes to be a Pakistani politician”. Not everyone is a born leader. After all, Z A Bhutto had four children out of whom only one displayed proper leadership qualities.

I don’t know how I can express my feelings right now. I am so shocked to find out that she was no more. I still can’t believe the fact that she is no more. Words aren’t enough to express the sorrow I feel. We have lost a great charismatic leader after Quaid-e-Awam (Zoolfiqar Ali Bhutto) who was the last scion of a political dynasty. May her soul rest in peace. (Jant-ul-Firdous). and Allah gives us enough courage to move forward in the fight of democracy.
We still cannot come to terms with the fact that such a charismatic and prominent leader of the country is no more. Deeply shocked and saddened we are and have been for the past 4 days.
Keeping her political policies aside, she was a brave and courageous woman (Daughter of Sindh) who brought hope in the hearts of everyone in Pakistan.
My deepest condolences for the irreparable loss to Bilawal, Bakhtawar, Asifa, Sanam, Fatima, & the rest of the family; as well as the entire nation and the PPP workers.

‘we are prepared to risk our lives but we are not prepared to surrender our great nation to the militants’
‘it is not the land of militants,it is not the land of extremists…it is the land of labors who work hard to earn a living’
These are not just Benazir’s words but the voice of all moderate and progressive Pakistanis. This is the nation of likes of Jinnah,Liaqat Ali Khan and Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and militant rule can never prevail here. People of Pakistan rejected militancy before and today again assassination of Pakistan most popular and loved leader shows that militants and extremists never enjoyed support of the people of Pakistan. I solute the brave daughter of the Muslim World who gave her life for the sake of people of Pakistan. May God bless BENAZIR. May God bless PAKISTAN.

i just wanted to say that i don’t get why some people are calling b.b. a shaheed and glorifying her death…i do think that its sad that she died, just out of pure humanity..i mean she has kids who are now left without a mother, and have a father who they hardly know..and yes it’s great that she was the first female leader of a Muslim country..but what exactly did she or her family do for Pakistan? steal money, and prey on the hopes and dreams of the thousands of uneducated people by making them false promises..so yea, mourn her death, but don’t make her out to be this great noble lady because she wasn’t…i mean, one look at the first bombing incident upon her return to pakistan, showed how incapable she was as a leader…leaders care about their people before themselves..she had received threats about her life, so why did she have to go out and do some stupid rally? of course for propaganda…she survived that first attack, but how many innocent people died, or were hurt?
and secondaly, zardari is a clever man..he’s using his son as a shield to again steal money and do what so ever he pleases..it’s quite clever really..of course hes gonna gain sympathy votes, i mean heres a young man whose just lost his mother right? and he represents the new generation of Pakistanis? and zardari will be the puppet master behind the scenes…
and also i just hope that all those idiots who are lik OMG HES SO CUTE IMMA VOTE FOR HIM are joking..thats exactly wats wrong with pakistan..people vote for the wrong reasons..point in case sanam mukhtar…u’re right..people in pakistan vote for “other characteristics” other than education and merit which is exactly why the country is in the hell hole that it is in…and as long as people keep on voting for people on the basis of hopes that these false promises will be fulfilled, there really is no hope for the future of pakistan

I think that Benazir Bhotto was the only one who was able to hold the administration of our country (Allah may give peace in her Grave), but if say that Bilawal hold the responsibility of government and other persons of PPP thats never ever be possible. I think Nawaz party should take over to hold the right Politics.

IN MEMORY OF BENAZIR
MANY A TEARS HAVE TO FALL
FOR BB, WHO LEFT US ALL
MANY A MEMORIES IN HER NAME
LIFT ALOFT BB TO FAME
BEYOND FOR EVER,THROUGH TIME
BB GREAT WILL BE SUBLIME
UN-EFFACEABLE AND FOR EVER
BB WONT DIE, EVER NEVER
THROUGH BILAWAL’S FLAMING YOUTH
HE WILL CARRY HIS MOTHER’S TRUTH
NATION’S UNITY IS BELIEF
ASIF STRESSES THOUGH IN GRIEF
BILAWAL HAS HIS MOTHER’S KEY
FOR THE ROAD TO DEMOCRACY
BILAWAL SURE, YOU WILL RISE

Next,
Dear Pakistaniz, Do not you think that Mr. Bilawal is the new emergent political figure who gain much respect and fame from the nation. Friends and foes all like him, more interesting is that Pakistaniz consider him a neutral person so why do not we give him chance to rule, because since last 60 years we have been testing politicians, so why not him.
I repeat, Save Pakistan and please make your voice loud against Americans vision of 2030.
Be analytical and constructive in your orguments!

Now that we are moving from bilawal to zardari…..it was only tonight my husband asked me: “So if Zardari was Mr. 10 pc during his wife’s rule, will he be Mr. 50 pc during his son’s rule?”.
I was of the opinion that more like Mr. 75 pc if the son isn’t around. What do you think?
My husband also pointed out that when BB first came in power in the early 90s we practically had civil war within Karachi with the sindhi feudals coming to town and gunning each other down. We shudder to imagine how things will be if Zardar is co-chairman (i.e running the show) and if PPP wins (which is highly likely given the voter sympathy for the assasination and the continued back-door meetings btw the govt and PPP even after assasination - its in today’s news).

63 Bai Shaima // Jan 4, 2008 at 3:54 pm
I agree with Cherry/The Columnist when she said that it can be a political trick. Bilawal is eight months older than I am so I know the thought of how it is like to be young and… oh well, innocent.
At his young age, there is a great PROBABILITY that some people would USE him to practice their influence in Pakistan. To add that he didn’t really grew up in Pakistan, he has much to learn about the nitty-gritty of the situation where he is now.
From what I’ve heard, Bilawal is still a freshman in Oxford. Thus, he still has to finish three or so years before graduation. That’s quite a long time. And what do we know, when he is twenty-two or such, maybe, he’ll learn enough to be able to handle the reins of the PPP.
I like the way how Amir Ali analyzes things, but I have to disagree on one thing. Age doesn’t necessarily measure your maturity as a person. I am still eighteen, I know I’m not that experienced, but at least I know where to set and how to follow my limits. That’s maturity. :)
Coming from a politically active family, I know how it feels like to have people looking up to you and expecting you to do well like your grandmother or whoever. So, I can say that I in this case, Bilawil and I are pretty much on the same page. The responsibility is not easy as you imagine. You might ask, “hey, you’re just heading a political party, what’s so difficult about it?” It is difficult. You need to plan everything. Because you’re not only planning the life of one person, you’re actually drafting the fate of a nation. Think about 161,488,000 people.
On the issue of juxtaposed political dynasty and democracy. I realized that yes, the Bhuttos stand for democracy but why is it that they seem to promote dynasties. The answer glares when you hear about the riots that spurted out after Benazir’s assasination. If people can do this for their loyalty to the Bhutto family, then it is still democracy. Because it still instills the will of the people.
I am not Pakistani but I read quite a lot about Pakistan. I am a third year International Studies Student here in the Philippines. Judging from our lessons in International Politics - which were not even thouroughly discussed - it’s no joke to run a country. Especially if you have everyone’s attention in you. You have to do well to be a political leader for people to love you.
In conclusion, I think that Bilawil’s victory as a political leader is not tantamount to his being a Bhutto or his good looks. His (and Pakistan’s) success lies on himself and the ability of the Pakistani people. They have to work hand in hand. Even experienced policy-makers and politicians suffer from this great responsibility.
Let alone a nineteen year old boy whose only “fault” is him being a Bhutto.

like you and Sana start humiliating others due to personal hatred and when you people get the same reply, you don’t like that. Look no one is your family here. Kindly read the detailed comments by Sana and then read my answer. Well I welcome all comments but if the intention is not hatred based.
AMIR! I AM PAKISTANI AND YOU ARE ALSO PAKISTANI. The thing is we should not hate any leader or person just because of personal race problem. We should only concentrate on our common nationality and that is PAKISTANIS.
You know why terrorism is at peak in Pakistan?? It is just because we focus on our race and province and forget our great nation. Why don’t you all focus on being PAKISTANIS..
I think that way only that’s the reason I like to vote for Imran Khan just to check him as we checked all others.
Look we all Pakistanis are not in state of more loss. We should concentrate on our common goal considering our Pakistan. I am in favor of Bilawal as we should also give chance to fresh blood. I personally don’t like Zardari because he was involved in corruption for sure but we are in state to go for a change with a hope that something good happens to our nation. Militants can be loyal to Pakistan regardless of their race but the truth is they could not handle the country properly. I have seen people planning to shift aborad only due to terrorism at peak here. But I suggest it not as a solution IF WE WILL LEAVE PAKISTAN, WHO ELSE WILL TAKE CAE OF OUR COUNTRY.
Regardless of personal attack, you should bring awareness to feel like Pakistanis. We should realize that as far as we are Pakistanis, we are then no more Sindhis, Punjabis and so on!
I feel pity on Pakistan as it will be scatered some day due to hatred for each other.
LIFE IS SHORT TO LOVE AND WE HAVE MADE IT A HELL BECAUSE OF OUR PERSONAL HATRED..
Comments and arguments are good only if the CAUSE is to take out some solytion ..it is worst when it is used like the way Sana and a few others are using. What ever I wrote was specifically after realizing that here the cause of argument from her is just personal.. This is really a big concern.. As this is the only problem left with a few people.. This way we ll some day lose our identitiy.
WHAT YOU WANT ACTUALLY?? DO YOU WANT THAT WE END INTO SMOKE FIGHTING FOR OUR RACE AND PROVINCE REPRESENTATORS AND THEN AFTER SOME YEARS WHEN SOMEONE ASKS US OUR PLACE OF BIRTH AND WE ANSWER THAT ” I was born is former Pakistan”
The cause of comments and arguments should be based on taking out some solutions. We Pakistanis should think seriously for our nation, treating personal likes and dislikes apart..

u said:
The answer glares when you hear about the riots that spurted out after Benazir’s assasination. If people can do this for their loyalty to the Bhutto family, then it is still democracy.
true people broke into riots it was a situation of bewilderment and chaos…but for u to say its democracy is not justiafiable, im not convinced…you need to get out in those streets to know waht exactly was happening there…innocent people were being harrased..properties were being destroyed…womem being raped ..people were scared…and this wasnt a protest but a few uncouth followers taking advantage of the situation..i dont call this democracy this is inhuman and cruel…if they really rspected Mohatarma Benazir this situation should not have arised it was a situation of disbelief and a time to mourn on waht had hapened.
i also know this is how usually people react to every such incident n not only in Pakistan but in other countries as well but how do u justify urself by callin these inhuman activities an example of democracy?

84 Amir Ali // Jan 5, 2008 at 11:19 pm
If rioting and violence is an indication of how much support, or lack of it, an individual or party has, well then by the same argument it could said that since 4 members of the Bhutto family have been killed, by presumably Pakistanis, there is actually less support for them than is implied/percieved.
The rioting that takes place is of very little significance, in that those involved in such rioting are, unfortunately, those that have very little else to do, are uneducated and financially disadvantaged. It would take very little to get these people on to the streets. Pakistan is a nation of very many frustrated citizens, a slight opportunity given to vent these frustrations is taken by these people with both hands, in this case literally, with unfortunate circumstances.
Pakistan was in a state of shock, understandably, when Benazir was killed, this lead to many people channelling thier uncontrablle emotions by burning buses, and lead to criminal opportunitists looting at least 7 banks. Just from these two examples we can see that they have very little, if at all anything, to do with showing support for Benazir/PPP.
All though it may seem so, I would say that the two: the assasination and the subsequent rioting, despite being inter-related, have very little direct connection with one another, in the way that is being suggested by some people/media.
85 Mumtaz // Jan 7, 2008 at 9:03 am
Yes Sanam, We should think for our Pakistan avoiding being personal as per our race and region.
86 Sanam Mukhtar // Jan 7, 2008 at 9:36 am
Yes Mumtaz! Do you know what is point of sorry a t this stage??
If you look at the future world map, you will not find Pakistan.
The reason is; we are not Pakistanis truly..We fight for regions.. Well If you see Indians they are very patriotic.. They don’t speak and fight for regions; they only fight for their India.
The only remedy to save Pakistan is to think and move in one direction. It is hard to coincide at one common point but at least we can strive not to forget that we all are Pakistanis.
87 Noman // Jan 7, 2008 at 11:48 am

88 Bai Shaima // Jan 7, 2008 at 12:16 pm
Salam!
@ Ammara
It is still democracy. Because afterall, democracy does not stand ourely on white light. Democracy is supposed to be an idealistic concept clad in positive aura, but some people bends the positivity and curbs it into something that is opposite.
Democracy means “of the will of the people”. It does NOT entail that democracy be something GOOD. That is the loophole in the contextualization of the democratic concept. Some people claim democracy to be a positive solution to end all their problems, but the truth is that, democracy does not necessarily give out standard norms of morality.
Democracy, essentially defined, means “will of the people”. And whether it being good or bad, is something relative to the context on which it is used.
I hope that answered your question. :) It’s been an honor changing ideas with you.

Hi all readers:
I make it clear that I don’t belong to any political party so,can’t be in favoud of a particular party. As a Pakistani,I have only believed MARTYR BENAZIR BHUTTO.I LOVE HER ALOT.SHE IS MY IDEAL.what benefit other politicians hav given us that majority of u is blaming PPP.
As far as Bilawal is concerned,I say that he has not stepped into politics yet so, why u all are creating meaningless controversy & criticism against him.He is a student,he concentrates on his studies.Plz don’t use absurd words against him.
And those of u who say that he hasn’t lived in Pakistan so,how can he understand the Pakistani people & the condition of poor peoplle here,I make it clear to all critics that he is also a human,God has given him a kind heart to feel the pain of other people ,and a sensible mind to think for others & this nation.
Many of u r quarrelling on a baseless topic.None of u has seen him in politics before so plz don’t use wrong & harsh words for Bilawal. He is brother of u all.those who have hatred for Bhuttos,PPP & Bilawal;plz don’t come to this site again.Kindly Humanize urself.
One of u said that wht Bhuttos hav done for this nation?
I answer it:1. SHAHEED ZULFIQAR ALI BHUTTO MADE OUR GREAT NATION PAKISTAN,THE “ATOMIC POWER”
2. SHAHEED BENAZIR BHUTTO PROVIDED “MISSILE TECHNOLOGY” TO PAKISTAN.
No other selfish politicians have done such important things for the advancement of this nation.False charges were put on Benazir about corruption. This was conspiracy of all monsters who have in fact robbed this nation & they put the blame on Benazir Bhutto to rule her out.
The illetrate people can never understand these realities.Benazir Bhutto was a highly educated woman that,s why she could understand all matters, but, the so called literate people (who r actually still illetrate)call her corrupt etc.
HATS OFF TO SHAHEED BENAZIR BHUTTO.
Guys, those of u who r fighting with each other on Bhuttos &PPP’s matter, seriously u will become EXTREMISTS . So,stop discussing on others topic. It’s a cool advice to all.

lol looks like this is an underground PPP website,
blue I advise you to read books that will help you with your raw knowledge about bhutto dynasty, and will tell you of whats right and whats wrong,,, I was only talking about the way bilawal was selected he was not ELECTED, secondly of course there are reservations about being responsible as he doesnt seem to be but we can only home… but anyways there are only two possibilities either you guys didnt get my point or you just dont want to agree or probably you are saying “lets agree to disagree”. lol and yes I will HUMANIZE myself only if you SENSENIZE yourself lol
Sanam you too are unable to get my point, I never talked about militants or extremists, this topic is out of context we can speak on it somewhere else you are most welcome to debate on that. but the only point that I was trying to pitch was bhutto dynasty which is a complete disaster for our nation, of course musharraf nawaz and chaudhry’s stand in the same queue as bhutto, they are all feudals/dictators

Dear Blue
i agree with some parts of you posts..Zulfikaar Ali Bhutto was the only admirable leader Pakistan had after Quaid..
and as far as Banazir is concerned i admire her as womern and her leadership qualities but totally disagree with her politcal views or the political invovlemtn she had in Pakistan
and your statement:
This was conspiracy of all monsters who have in fact robbed this nation & they put the blame on Benazir Bhutto to rule her out.
may i ask u on waht basis do u say that ?
104 ugwaraich // Jan 10, 2008 at 3:55 am
we cannot change our fate being Pakistanis unless we look outside the box
105 ugwaraich // Jan 10, 2008 at 4:00 am
and that is our dilemma that we dont look outside the box, blue is one of its victim. Anyways, sanam what map are you talking about ? is it predicted by some messiah of God? why we people believe in predictions so easily and not in ourselves and bring about some good change? why people in our country compare politicians with each other rather reminding themselves that whatever good a politician does it is his/her primary responsibility to do so it is not something a leader does in favour, its his/her job so are they supposed to do so. again we need to look outside the box
106 Amir Ali // Jan 10, 2008 at 4:47 am
I agree completely, well said ugwaraich.
107 Anni.S // Jan 10, 2008 at 6:36 am
i accidently came across this website and could not help but comment. while it was interesting to read a few “educated” opinions, i had a hard time avoiding the “we can string together few sentences in english (which obviously make no sense) to show how englightened we are (not) and if someone is making a comment (read intelligent comment), we take offence and (abuse) give a “tit for tat” reply” ones
[sorry, it came out a bit harsh]
u know what, we do not need the first world to make fun of us, we do a pretty good job at it ourselves.
i do not think it is necessary to point names since people do not take criticism in the right manner. however, i would like to say that those of you who have personal issues or certain obsessions, perhaps need to call your best friend and make sure you are heard.
ofcourse u have the right to voice your opinion but then again, just double check as to what your writing is a logical, well-thought and rational opinion if you cant make it to intellectual instead of a torrent of harsh responses or personal attacks.
and i suppose im going to be lashed up for saying this pretty soon, and anyone who does, u were exactly the person (s) i had in mind but did not name :)
and my little piece of advice to the poor souls who are seeking a healthy debate/exchange of ideas - this place is not for you. u might want to find a more sane platform and if you do, let me know as well.
peace out everybody

Well said friend! :) We should think outside the box to cahnge the fate of our country.. We should strive to come u with a solution in order to do something to help our country’s nation. I was really sorry to know that our sweet country is no more predicted in future world map :(
109 Sanam Mukhtar // Jan 10, 2008 at 9:38 am
We should become one to help our nation. We must move in one direction rather than fighting with each other. Concepts can’t coincide I understand but the thing is our motive should be to help our nation. We should discuss our views but our discussion should not be biased in order to get a neutral decision. Have any of you watched the movie “chakde” . It motivates to work as a team. CAN WE ALL WORK AS A TEAM TO HELP OUR GREAT NATION :(??

Sanam for heaven’s sake stop talking about predicted map. if tommorow I turn up on a website and predict that there won’t be any india or america on the face of earth is that going to happen? the message in my last post was to try not to believe on unauthentic sources and such predictions, it is not possible to predict some country’s fate, and you shouldnt be sorry inshaALLAH we’ll hit back soon
112 ugwaraich // Jan 10, 2008 at 2:43 pm
and by the way I dont watch indian movies, this is one of the reasons why we are lagging behind that india has kept us so busy in their movies, all those emotions come from those useless indian movies that they make on portraying muslims as gangsters, terrorists and rapers which our generations take as inspirations, I suggest everyone here to please come out of the dreamworld movies of india and get some brushes on reality
113 Sanam Mukhtar // Jan 10, 2008 at 3:02 pm
ugwaraich ! I got your central aim to comment here. You just want to fight and criticize other. That is not a good habbit.
And by the way! rather then getting my point, you cahnged the direction of talking senselessly about indian movies.. Ufff grow up .. and change your habit please to comment on a rite track.

No one will listen to your prediction again Ameriza as people have common sense.. Condition in our country and conditions at USA are not hidden from anyone. So ugwaraich: Please talk sensibly or opt out of comments area.. Sometime you change the direction of comments..Sometime you insult others. You just want to criticize. I think it is on your nature. Kindly correct yourself and remain neutral and comment sensibly.
115 ugwaraich // Jan 10, 2008 at 4:23 pm
lol, you again misunderstood. this is turning funny now; all this anger just because I dont watch indian movies??? lol indians are the most hatefull people on this earth and I cant help hating bloody indians you cannot change this fact; anwyay duno if you are indian or not but they do make some real good movies to show Pakistanis as terrorist believe it or not; cant understand why are you taking the offence of indians on your head, why you got so much respect for them.
About prediction of american maps I was saying that if I upload some document on internet baout it and send that link to most of the people with putting in some graphs and forecasting trends and stuff its gona impress people and they will get convinced that america will be wiped off the earth’s map in 20 years. so probably you have seen same kind of stuff on internet about Pakistan, your brain needs greasing its completely choked, lol .
116 ugwaraich // Jan 10, 2008 at 4:27 pm
and by the way I did not come here for the purposes you explained, I was browing through pages and came across this website and then the radical comments from PPP supporters which really stunned me.
I am trying to send through my view point in a funny way dont take it as insult or sumit
117 blue // Jan 10, 2008 at 4:55 pm
ugwaraich ur thought abt indian movies is correct.u said that u r 80 yr old, but,ur words don’t show so.let’s stop criticising all other pakistanis & go to other sites to discuss other matters.I said this in a frank manner.don’t take it wrong.if u find any entertaining side for discussion, then do inform me & sanam.

Well I am sorry to say, this is what you actually need as you only misbehave when you start to comment. So I think it is useless to speak with you. Anyways I wont read your comments as you misbehave only by making fun. Neither you have any solid evidence to support your comments. I wont read your comments and wont reply. Take care and bye to you.
