Note: This is not a news item but random thoughts of a highly frustrated Pakistani.

We have barely managed to enter 2008 as a nation and the future looks so bleak that we are not sure whether there would be a Pakistan in 2009 or not.

Out of the last 6 hours, we have had electricity for only 1 hour. When I left home early in the morning, I was unable to have breakfast owing to lack of gas. This crisis is much bigger then any other political crisis going on. Industries are shutting down, businesses are suffering badly because of severe electricity, gas and even water shortage in certain areas.

How do we expect this country to progress when there is not even basic infrastructure working ?

The bigger problem is that the regime is not even thinking or planning about these problems as they are engulfed in a bitter battle to stay in power no matter what happens.

I can go on and on but to wrap it up: We are a nation without electricity, gas, water, basic civil rights, etc.

I would add to the woes of the writer that today Wapda has declared load shedding in Lahore for 18 hours instead of 16 hours a day . Lo kar lo gal. This is factual position of the development being Trumpted by the Govt. The law and order position in the country adverse that no body is safe from Dakoos and Loteras. To cut short, the solution to the problem lies in departure of the High ups.

The problem is much deeper then departure of high ups (which ofcourse is needed). We don’t want change to bring people with different faces but similar motives. We want real change !!!

Who is planning right now to cope with power shortage over coming years? What about gas ? What about transport infrastructure ? What the hell is wapda doing ? What the hell have musharraf done over last 8 years ? If we had done any planning and execution over last 8 years we had been so much better then me writing this message in the dark without electricity …

Robar Kaplan had long been predicted the demise of the country. The year of the collapse of the federation seems nearer. The crisis after crisis has strengthen the notion of the disintegration of Pakistan seriously. The militry might on the other hand is still living in fools paradise -to intact the federation by force.

The current, though repeating the culture of destruction, but whole burdon can’t be put on them alone. The foundation stone of destruction had been laid with the murder of Quaid-e-Azam. The the vicious circle of treachery started till the break up of East Pakistan. No lesson was learned by the establishment-conspiracies continued.
The current crisis is a by product of the long painful history of Pakisan. Musharraf and his generals quite busy t finish their as quick as possible. They have taken an oath to destory the country to please thier master Unlce Sam. The power shortage, flour crisis and other destructive measures-accelerating the process. Generals,70 percent nations wealth at their desposal have no problem to carry out the dirty task-to extinguish the state from the map of the world.
So we can only pray to God for the safety of the country.

I agree with the commentators above and would like to add that we should know from experience that Uncle Sam can not be our friend and we should part way with it sooner and never later. General has become so week or he has been made so to implement thier long standing policy of dismemberment of Pakistan. We , as a nation and our Leadership can do much to protect the soveriegnty of Pakistan for which General must quit without any further loss of time and quite fair elections must be held on the fixed date under National Govt. The new Govt. should stop lovely affairs with U.S. but maintain appropriate relations with it as Free Nations do.

If free, fair and trasparent elections are held then the Commado Genel will have to go,but it sees that the general would rig the elections inorder to stay in power. He would stick to his famous quote “Pakistan comes first”. Pakistan mean Musharraf. He would follow the foot step of Yahya Khan whether the country plunges into choas. He would love to stay in the army house.

The US on the other hand wants to destaablise the country to broaden the so called war on terror. Unlce Sam needs bloodshed, destructin and ruin;only notorious Generals could serve the best. Democracy is a nightmare for the US and the generals.
So the conception of free and fair election is an outdated phenomenon in our country. Our generals culture cant swallow transparacy.

There has been much negative propaganda on the sundry social and political fault-lines in Pakistan, of late focusing on the dismemberment of the country referencing Bangla Desh. The allusion is flawed and clearly the work of outside agencies bent on disturbing the equilibrium of a nuclear empowered nation on the verge of making an economic breakthrough as the major energy and trade hub of the region. The Iran-Pakistan-India gas pipeline deal, which is close to closing, attests to this emerging reality, as will down the line the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan pipeline that is on the anvil. Moreover Pakistan is country of contiguous, economically integrated provinces which will sooner, rather than later, emerge unscathed from the turbulence they are currently encountering.
