RAWALPINDI: Pakistan and France agreed on Thursday to consolidate and expand their ongoing defence collaboration in a meeting between Caretaker Defence Minister Syed Salim Abbas Jilani and French ambassador Regis de Belenet at the Ministry of Defence.
“They agreed to intensify cooperation in areas of military training and exchange of delegations,” a Defence Ministry statement said.
They also discussed the ongoing war against terror and Pakistan’s role in it. “The valuable contribution made by Pakistan against the war on terror also came under discussion,” the statement said.
Jilani briefed the envoy on Pakistan’s counter-terrorism measures and said the country had made significant gains. He said the forthcoming general elections would be fair and transparent.
