PML-Q president and former premier Shujaat Hussain on Tuesday said though party was unanimous on the issue of candidature for prime minister’s slot, the final decision in this regard will, however, be taken in a democratic manner.

Addressing the party candidates from Sargodha here at his residence, Mr Hussain said PMLQ was a democratic party and all internal decisions were also taken in a democratic manner after consulting senior leaders.

He said the final decision regarding the party’s candidate for prime minister’s office would be taken after the general elections, adding that central leader Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi could be a candidate. “Why Pervaiz Elahi cannot be a candidate,” he asked.

The party’s candidates for the upcoming elections were of the view that Pervaiz Elahi was the only and strongest candidate for the slot from the PML, he said.
