Record spending on VVIP visits in 2007

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs allocated Rs 1.06 bn to the Foreign Affairs Division in the year 2006-2007 to meet the expenditure on VVIP visits abroad, other delegations that were sent abroad, entertainment and gifts for foreign dignitaries, says the Foreign Affairs Yearbook 2006-07.

Some of the other areas that the said amount went into included Pakistan’s contribution and subscription to the UN and other regional and international organisations, probationers, envoy conferences at the headquarters as well as abroad, demarcation of the Pak-India boundary, grant in aid to the Institute of Strategic Studies and welfare of Pakistanis abroad.

Interestingly, the word abroad is continuously written with a capital ‘A’ in the yearbook, perhaps depicting a yearning or importance to be abroad. There is no break-up of the above amount to determine what exact amount was spent on VVIP visits abroad as a record of sorts was broken on dozens of visits by the president and the prime ministers alone. Rs5.03 bn were allocated to the missions abroad.

The ministry has undertaken a project, which aims at printing all the agreements/treaties Pakistan had signed with various countries since August 1947. Of great interest are the completed and ongoing projects with Afghanistan. The structure of the Nishter Kidney Centre in Jalalabad is complete, the project cost being $20 million. The site of the Jinnah Hospital in Kabul has been decided and the project cost will be $20 million. Some 14 Mobile Medical Units costing $0.924 million have been donated. The Ziaul Haq Artificial Limb Centre, probably at Mazar-e-Sharif, will soon come up at the cost of $4 million. The Fatima Jinnah Nuclear Medical Centre at Kabul will cost $8 million and the Al-Shifa Eye Hospitals at Gardez and Kunduz, at the cost of $4.5 million, are also among the projects.

why did it take ages to get printed in newspapers like Jang, I was suprised to see this news today in newspaper ….

The lame reason was that as a president he has to make sure that the country’s dignity is protected as if all the dignity is represented by where you stay ….

I think that the Pakistani people would have been more happier to see their President getting out of a taxi while visiting the British Prime Minister’s recidences …………RIGHT, MR.RAZA.

what’s wrong with it ? Getting out of taxi might have been genuinely appreciated by us and giving a signal that he is serious about Pakistan and its rising financial problems …

But I guess like other Pakistanis he is also too obsessed about his status being impacted by going in taxi …

Btw, I don’t want him to travel on taxi but atleast I also dont want him to spend exorbiant amounts on his stay.

It is just like snatching bread from a pakistani for the enjoyment of the VIP’s.

More than ONE Billion Rs. in expenses ,on VIP visits abroad is very alarming. Visits must be less frquent or must be extremely important. If they want to go on vacation abroad, then they must use their Personal check books and credit cards. But unfortunately, these Pakistani high officials always attach small Official meeting to legalize their family vacation from the pockets of taxpayers, VERY SAD. SHAME ON YOU.

Dear Sirs in Jinnah hospital Kabil,
A week ago I wrote to you about the scandal your project engineering Ghazanfar Ali Shah (a pakistani citizen who is working in Jinnah hospital Kabul)has been creating with an iranian wife through chattting and seducing her to have sexual relations with him. He sends gifts and holds chats everyday with her based on sex and asking her to leave her husband and a child. This type of sexual relations is a real scandal which will come under the sponsorship of Jinnah hospital. I have received no asnwer from you in order to send appropriate documents to prove the scandalous case. I will ask the same thing from Brig Niasar Ahmad and Brig Anjum Saeed as you are quite reluctant for such a scandal. If you see what kind of talks he keeps with her you will be ashamed of what you are building there, not boastful. I will present documents, their original chatting and seduction if necessary. What I ask you is to listen to what I propose and try to expel such a sex mania who destroys your name and character immediately.
    Yours faithfully,
    Asad Harbei

    cc. Brig Nisar Ahmad
    cc. Brig Anjum Saeed

PS. It shoul be mentioned if there is no answer from you, the case with proper documents will be issued in other sites to show your fake islamic intentions for the whole world.

    Dear friends,
May I ask for the email address of the afghan government section which I can make my open complaint? It is a shame that some press authorities do not take care even with a simple answer to the issue or do not publish it.
    Yours faithfully,
    Asad Harbei
