Pakistan have added three new faces to their squad for Wednesday’s fourth one-day international against Zimbabwe in Faisalabad.
Opening batsman Khurram Manzoor, paceman Wahab Riaz and wicketkeeper Sarfraz Ahmed have been called into the squad at the expense of Salman Butt, all-rounder Yasir Arafat and regular gloveman Kamran Akmal.
With the five-match series already secured thanks to an unassailable 3-0 lead, the Pakistan selectors are keen to have a look at new players.
“We want to give these youngsters a taste of international cricket,” chief selector Salahuddin Ahmed told The News.
“We have won the series and now there is a good opportunity to field some of our young boys who have done exceptionally well on the domestic circuit.”
Opener Butt was dropped after failing three times with the bat while Arafat, who only came in for the series-clinching 37-run win in Multan, made way for left-arm medium fast bowler Riaz.
Young wicketkeeper Sarfraz also gets a chance to stake his claim as Akmal’s understudy.
“We want to groom a substitute wicket-keeper and Sarfraz is currently the most suitable choice,” Ahmed added.
Pakistan squad: Shoaib Malik, Nasir Jamshed, Khalid Latif, Khurram Manzoor, Mohammad Yousuf, Younus Khan, Misbah-ul-Haq, Shahid Afridi, Fawad Alam, Sarfraz Ahmad, Sohail Tanvir, Kamran Hussain, Sohail Khan, Wahab Riaz.

Where is Shahid Yousuf???
I’ve heard that he’s a very good opening batsman and have also scored quite heavily and consistently in the domestic circuit.
