Student Action Committee, Concerned Citizens Pakistan (CCP) Punjab Bar Council, Pakistan Medical Association, Lahore District Bar Association, Women’s Action Forum, Joint Action Committee, PML-N, PTI, National Worker’s Party, Labour Party, Khaksaar Tehrik, APDM and civil society groups will hold a protest rally Saturday (today) here at Nasir Bagh for the restoration of November 2 judiciary and rule of law in the country.
A large number of lawyers, members of civil society and workers of political parties will join the protest demonstration. They will hold protest meeting and urge the masses to struggle for the independent judiciary and reinstatement of 60 deposed judges. The rally will be taken out from Nasir Bagh and it will go towards Chairing Cross where the participants will hold sit-in in front of the Punjab Assembly building.
CCP activist held a meeting with Nawaz Shairf and Shabaz Sharif and sought their cooperation for their movement. The rally is expected to be very significant as a large number of people will come up to join the protest.
The office bearers of Punjab Bar Council and Supreme Court Bar Association have sought formal permission from District Coordination Officer and City Police Officer (CPO) for holding a peaceful procession and rally at Naqsir Bagh and a peaceful march on The Mall as part of their ongoing protest for the reinstatement of deposed judges and independence of judiciary and rule of law in the country. Punjab Bar Council Vice Chairman Aslam Sindhu and office bearers of SCBA announced their decision to join the rally on Thursday last at a press conference. Students Action Committee (SAC) representative Usman, Abid Hassan Minto, Aslam Sindhu, Pakistan Bar Council member Ramzan Chaudhry, Muhammad Azhar Siddiq and representatives of CCP attended the press conference.
