[The Times of India] Speaking to TOI on Friday, Mohammed Ahmed Siddiqui, Ayesha’s father and a retired employee of Saudi Airlines in Jeddah, charged that Malik has abandoned his daughter after marrying her legally and should be punished for this. “There should be a fatwa against him. My demand to him is to accept the marriage and divorce my daughter. She does not want to go back to a cheater like him. And we want our life back,” Siddiqui said. According to the father, Ayesha has been in a state of shock ever since Malik “disowned” the wedding a few days ago. “Malik had insisted the wedding be kept secret. After the wedding, he had visited my Banjara Hills house and stayed with my daughter on more than 10 occasions. The couple had also spent their honeymoon at Taj Krishna. And the feast that I threw for the Pakistani team when they came to Hyderabad was in fact a wedding reception,” Siddiqui said.
Ayesha had met Shoaib during a cricket match in Dubai in 2002 where she was working as the vice-principal of an international school. “It was Shoaib who called me up over phone and asked for my daughter’s hand. Although I had objections to my daughter marrying a Pakistani boy, I agreed because both of them were keen,” Siddiqui said. After two months of courtship, the couple married on June 3, 2002, over phone, with witnesses from both sides as per the Muslim law.
Siddiqui claimed that not only did the marriage take place, but that it was also consummated. “I have the nikahnama (marriage certificate) issued by a Qazi in Sialkot (Pakistan). The ‘vidayee’ also took place later,” he said.
According to sources, Ayesha had met Malik outside India as well. But it’s unclear as to why Siddiqui kept both the marriage and the consummation under wraps for six long years. The marriage reportedly broke off because Malik constantly complained about Ayesha’s obesity. Malik would often ask her to reduce her weight and even made her undergo a lyposuction, the father said. According to a source, Ayesha had always been obese and that in media interviews after the ’secret’ wedding, had stated she would take measures steps to reduce her weight.
The father also blamed some of Malik’s cricketer mates for the breakdown of the marriage. “I believe that several of his friends persuaded him to break the wedding,” Siddiqui said, but refused to name anyone. Meanwhile, Ayesha is unwilling to give her side of the story and has moved out of the Siddiqui residence and is staying with a ‘doctor’ friend.

“The least he can do now is to offer talaaq (divorce) and release her honourably,” her father M.A. Siddiqui said.
Ayesha, who is in shock after the cricketer issued the denial in January, was admitted to hospital last evening.
“There are more than 35 witnesses (to the nikaah), including a former minister in the TDP government, Basheeruddin Babu Khan,” said Siddiqui.
In 2005, the family had hosted a dinner for Malik and the touring Pakistan team at their Banjara Hills home and revealed that the couple had exchanged wedding vows over phone in May 2002. The dinner, to which Mohammad Azharuddin, Sania Mirza and Pullela Gopichand were invited, was widely reported in the media.
Malik’s mother Farookh Sultana, accompanying her son, had said she was happy with the match.
However, the cricketer said last July the relationship was off and denied it had been a formal engagement. He issued a public denial in Karachi last month, when Ayesha was there. “I had a long relationship with her…. But no nikaah ever took place,” he said.
Siddiqui said the nikaah was performed according to the Shariat when Ayesha was in Hyderabad and Shoaib in his hometown Sialkot. “I will drag him to court,” he said.

Speaking to this website’s newspaper, Siddiqui recalled that the family had hosted a big party when the Pakistan team was in Hyderabad for a match against ‘India A’ in 2005.Malik had recently claimed in Pakistan that the marriage was never solemnised and the proposal had been dropped because the two families could not reach an understanding on certain issues.
Siddiqui avers that he has evidence of Malik appearing on a local (Hyderabad) television channel wherein he stated that he was happy to play in the city from which his in-laws hail. “I will not let him off lightly. He has to be punished,” Siddiqui said.
Siddiqui said his daughter was “devastated and traumatised” in the wake of Malik deserting her and that the maulvi had said Ayesha required a divorce to begin life anew.

Very sorry for the girl!
This should be a lesson for people who marry off their daughters to Pakistanis. There will not be any jusrisdiction of Indian court there and with the kind of relationship that we have with Pakistan, she will not get justice.
It was a very naive on the part of the girl and the family to have kept this a ’secret’. Do they have something to hide?
If it is proved that the nikaah was never done, fatwa should be issued against the girl according to muslim law.

How unfortunate. Both parties should be sensible and resolve this amicably. People do drift away,it does not have to be so damaging.
There seems to be a bit of truth in both sides’ story.There was no denial of Nikkah when it was publicised in 05 so why denial now? Liability if they lived together is another issue. My suggestion :- come clean dont drag it.

Thousands of Indian Girls are married in Pakistan and vice versa, this is not a matter of Indo-Pak thing guys,,, when will you guys start thinking with your Muscle called ‘B R A I N’?
Let’s wait for the Court’s decision, Look at the photograph of the girl, I dont think Malik will ever marry a girl like that when there are thousands of gorgeous girls wanting to get married with a Pakistani Cricket…. Good Sense prevails…

it’s bad taste to label all men hailing from a particular country as cheaters. let the courts decide the case. As far as I think, the girl’s family is just after malik’s money, because it is not easy to enter into nikah with someone and then deny it altogether. There are too many witnesses from both sides.

I am a former student of Ayesha Siddiqui’s from when she was a vice principal at our school in Saudi Arabia. That was many many many years ago and she was extremely obese then as she is now. Me and all the other students from the school she taught at (Hala Int. School Jeddah, KSA) always knew she was a crazed fanatic of both cricket and cricketers. Her father was known to be PRO INDIAN and always hated Pakistani’s.
Back in 2004/2005 when we heard of her marriage to Shoaib Malik it was the most shocking news ever. Not only was she obese, she was also many many years older than her family now claims. I remember celebrating her 24th birthday while studying at the school where she taught when i was 14 so now that I am 24 she should be 34 .. give or take a year maybe, and Shoaib Malik is what, 27 something years old I believe?
She has cheated him on so many levels that I cant even begin to list the issues.
1st of all her real name is Ayesha but she is called Maha by her friends family and even by her students she was called Ms. Maha not Ms. Ayesha. so for him to be confused on that… is valid.
Also when news of her marriage emmerged many friends of her family claimed that she had sent out pictures of her older sister Nagma to Shoaib Malik and infact their first meeting was in Dubai where there had been an accidental hotel key mix up or something and Shoaib Malik had brought their keys to them. So all along he was under the impression that he was talking to the girl he met, both online and on the phone.
Then when they held this so called reception in Hyderabad, India… why is the groom not dressed up in a suit or even traditional Indian outfit? Why are all the cricketers actuallly in their cricket jerseys / uniforms instead of being dressed for a reception? and there were no female guests present… why? wouldnt you invite all your close friends and family to a personal affair such as a wedding reception? the only woman present at the event was Ayesha’s mother. Couldnt it just have been any other party hosted for the cricketers?
Also news came in that while this event took place Ayesha aka Maha was not present as she was recruited in some sort of intensive weight loss program…
oh and one last thing… Mr. M.A. Siddiqui claims that shoaib malik had as for his daughters hand in marriage yet they still had a telephonic nikkah… which was said to be a nikkah done in privacy without the knowledge of ayesha’s family and she then broke the news or the union to them several months later through a relative or friend of the familys… so if her father had consented to the marriage, why did they have to have a secret over the phone nikkah.???

I really don’t know what to believe. To me Shoaib Malik is a good person with a good heart. I saw how concerned he was when that other guy from New Zealand got hurt, he is not a bad person, he maybe just makes bad decisions. I’m sure he’ll change. I think he really is amazing, does not matter where he is from. I personally like all kinds of peoples. I could never be a racist even if I tried! Love you alot Shoaib Malik, you are an amazing person, sir.

To sum up what happened, the way I see it, is that Shoaib did make a commitment to this girl while thinking she was someone else. Obviously, that’s fraud. All this time, the relationship was on the phone and the girl hesitated to meet him in person.

i mean each and every line she wrote above is 100% true and valid. the reason i m telling this with utmost surety is that i myself was her student before this relationship happened.
in the bottom line, i can only conclude that, which my 6 sense is also saying that ms. maha (ayesha siddiqui, in this case) might have sure shot concealed herself from shoaib malik and must have showed a window dressed picture to malik. i mean to say that some1 else might have disguised as ayesha siddiqui, instead of the true victim, and cheated shoaib malik.
regarding wat ayesha’s father said, i would say that his comments are false, baseless and useless.
my question to him is that y this person is shouting now and not when the nikkah truely happend according to him.
