PTCL Broadband Internet Policy

PTCL has launched a broadband internet facility for its consumers with minimum 256k connection. Presently 4GB is allowed free download per month and also you can use it free from 01 to 08 in the morning. For this, proper daily user account is needed to be maintained through computor to which the consumer has been allowed access by issuing a password so that he remained uptodate regarding his account. What is practically being done that the account is not updated for weeks and the consumer is kept in dark. Then suddenly the account is filled with fictious entries and D/L limit is increased at the end of the month and the consumer is sent inflated bill. The bills are delivered late, only two days are given for its payment otherwise he will have to face disconnection and a fine. This is not a joke but a fact that writer has faced last month by getting an excess bill of Rs. 700/ for excess D/L. in addition to Rs. 1199/ normal bill. I confirmed this scam by noting down my timing of use of the Internet and then requested the staff at phone # 1236 to update the data from Jan. 01 to 09 which was updated on 10 Jan. on my request. The timings noted by me were quite different and the time entered in the data was that when the loadshedding was made and electricity was not available. I make an appeal to ptcl Bureaucrates to have a pity on the poor consumers and update the data in the account live and avoid any hanky panky. Some one was naming the new management after ptcl privatization that it is Ehtisalaat and not Ittesalaat and coy has to prove otherwise.

Yes, you are right. Same happened with me and one firend of mine. We both purchased ptcl package on the same day. After one month the bill was too large. Rs 2100 for me and Rs 1800 for my friend for extra downloading. And i’ve not download even @ GB

  • 2 jatalapk // Feb 11, 2008 at 2:30 am

I agree with the writer ptcl does not update the data in the accounts of consumers in time. Now to day is 10th of Feb. but the data has not been added in the accounts which means a great laps on the working of the ptcl. After privatization the efficiency of the coy has deteorated because most of the staff has been removed from service on the pretext of volunteer retirement.

When you retire the staff without assessing its requirement the result is failure of good service to the public. Last month me and my friend were also met with the same fate as of web designer’s group. I would appeal to the Authorities concerned to take notice of the situation and do something for redressal of the grievances of the public from the looter group .

PTCL though has revised/improved their packages and is now offering unlimited download but the speed is the same i.e., below 200 on 512 kbps package, which is matter of deep concern. I would appreciate if PTCL could be stressed upon to improve their download speed in order capture the market otherwise people would look for a switch over.

The old policy of ptcl was a failure so when I went to its office for disconnection of broadband connection I saw a line of public to return the gadgets supplied by ptcl free of cost. I think that is why the ptcl revised the policy and have now started 512 kbps connection for the same cost of Rs. 1200/ with unlimited download. Some one who has got the connection as per new ptcl policy may advise to all readers whether it is being followed correctly or some underhand tactics are also being applied by ptcl as old habits die hard in the private coys who are greedy beyond limits. The download speed for 512 BB connection must be near to 200kbps. Does the D/L is free for 24 hours or only the Brousing is free for 24 hours? This clarification is necessary for all viewers to avoid misleading. To reply the Qs of Goodman the charges are added in the regular monthly bill. The first Q is to be replied by someone who has got the connection recently.

I am sorry guyz, the speed is pathetic even if PTCL has increased its bandwidth, though i have recently opted for the 512 kbps, but i have not as yet received its billing. As such i can not comment on free D/L. I preceive the bill would be a shock, as expected of PTCL, am actually thinking of swtiching over t o D-Link they have the same charges as that of PTCL walas. though the connection might not be shared which would be improvement over PTCL, hence good D/L speed.

    Hello,
I want the following information on ptcl broadband 512 K connection for 1200/- Rs.

    1. Is the connection really committed or they are just saying that?
    2. Is there really no downloading limit? If any, what? What are the charges per MB of download above limit?
    3. What ACTUAL speed are they giving?
    4. Is the connection reliable provided the phone line is working?
    5. How is the costumer service in case I have any problems?
    6. Is there any penalty if I want to disconnect before the 12 months contract is over? If not, what difference does that contract make?
    7. Are there any area-to-area differences in customer facilitation(I live in North Karachi, not a hot shot area)?

I will be really thankful for a reply from someone who has been using ptcl broadband for a while.
    Thanks
