Jihad today is probably the most controversial of all Muslim practices. Some believe that ‘fighting’ for Islam, however it may be or against whoever it may be, is called Jihad. Those who believe in this line of thought are otherwise very good Muslims. This writer sincerely urges such believers to consider the following:
- There is no example from the prophet Muhammed’s [SAW} life where we can find a clandestine movement or war or underground movement to spread or save Islam.
- All battles waged by the prophet were open battles and there was no secrecy about them.
- Despite all sorts of oppression which included economic, bodily and mental oppression, the prophet SAW did not conduct any underground or clandestine movement against the oppressors.
- Never was an innocent, during the life of the prophet Muhammed SAW, for whatever reason deprived of his life.
- Never was a woman or child done to death during the prophet Muhammed’s lifetime.
- All battles during the lifetime of the prophet were fought to protect Islam and not any country or territory.
- Never was any other Muslim or believer killed in any ‘Jihad’.
Now consider what the ‘Jihadis’ are doing these days:
a) They are killing innocent men, women and children in suicide bombing and other deadly attacks saying these are Jihadi attacks?
b) They are killing women and children in these so-called Jihadi attacks?
c) They are killing Muslims in such attacks?
d) They are conducting a guerilla war against whom they perceive as the invaders and the oppressors?
e) They are mercilessly maiming innocent people in these ‘Jihadi’ attacks who will live with their deformities all their lives?
f) They are trying to hurt anyone including any Muslim who does not see eye to eye with them?
g) By killing innocent men they are depriving their families including many small children of a bread earner for the families?
To such people, my question is : Is what all they are doing an act of any Muslim or a follower of Islam which says that killing any human being is like killing the entire humanity and saving the life of one human being is like saving the life of entire humanity?

just look how many people even wanted to read such an artical on Jihad
this shows what type of people we have become now a days in the name of Jihad we go on killing the inocent people including women and children
then we even dare to say that the militant say that we dont kill women and its against the rules of their Jihad …..
no sir , your suicide bombers dont make any diffrences between women and mens ….neither do their bombs do ……..which only kills

Jihad is the name of the activity of a lot of loony tunes enjoying a crazy party with guns and bombs. All kinds of crazies get together wear halloween dresses and go on a killing spree.
Pampers on their heads , fan belts around their necks and wildgrowth on their faces they blow up people and have fun. man dont beat around the bush. see it for what it is.

Jihad today is totally the mean of self politics and has no linkage with the true education of Islam. We dont find any example of such jihad in the time of Muhammad SAW, we believed that whatever conditions, restrictions, guidance provided to us as a muslim is sufficient and has no sense of contacting for the help from any individuals, our honoured religious scholars have tremendous responsibility to wash out the true imand and mean of Jihad we are sick people inthe hand of socalled scholars Killing women, children, padestrians and prayers is murdereds whic will be treated as murder

i am surprised how misinformed we are about the concept of jihad. Basically jihad is putting a stop to oppression and exploitation of innocent. this is something which wheteher some of u might not believe, but west is doing. so jihad against them is wajib.
now about the question, whether this type of jihad was undertaken by Prophet (SAW) or not.
it is completely ridiculous to try to develop such an analogy. The times have changed and so has everything with it such as nature of crimes. Did anyone commit a cybercrime in his times. so it should not be considered a crime? is that what u think?
yes today bombs cannot distinguish between guilty and innocent…between adults and children. but who invented this dreadful thing against humanity was it an Afghani, Pakistani or an Iraqi?
so are we assuming that when they use it against us its fair? or we should stay quiet because we r Muslims. Basic human rights allow u to self defence and even if somebody is killed in self defence the killer is not punished.
this is exactly what jihadis were doing. they were not against or Pakistan until Pakistan Govt started acting as agents of west…sided with them.
To Islam, anyone siding with the opressors becomes an opressor himself. the example comes from Madina…Prophet lived in peace with the jews. had friendly relations with them until when during the attacks made by Pagans jews aided them. it was then that they were initially exiled and when even that failed to have an impact they were killed.
even ur law works like that. self defense and is a right which cannot be denied.

I agree with Uzma completely. Jihad is a struggle against oppression and tyranny and it is the duty of every Muslim to participate or support this struggle. I support the democratic form because I believe it will lead to success. But if someone fights guns, pointed at him to stop him from seeking his rights, with guns than that is the only way of Jihad available to him/her and as Muslims we have no quarrel with such a person. But as human beings also he has our support.

One is supposed to do Jihad when one is attacked because he/she is a muslim. Its also said that if there was ever a sixth pillar of Islam it would have been Jihad. Moreover, we are told to do Jihad everyday. I will elaborate so that people dont get confused. There are two types of Jihad. The greater Jihad and the Lesser Jihad. The Greater Jihad is to fight the evil inside us and the Lesser Jihad is the fight against those people who target on us for being muslims. Moreover, i think its the establishment which is behind the suicide attacks so that they can show America that Musharaf is needed to curb this menace. This is not my assumption but an assumption of a former corps commander. For details you can check on my articles and you would know. All the wars Prophet Muhammad(PBUH) fought for Islam was Jihad. The weapon to destroy the killing of innocent people is through dialogue and not guns. Moreover, and Islamic justice and governance system should be installed to curb the menace Get your facts straight ! Read the quran and come back.

all of you idiot that agree that islam and jihad is a tool of piece are complete idiots that do not know anything. i have lived in Egypt and i saw nothing but terrorism. innocent women and girl being raped and forced to convert. . . millions of people died in the name of jihad. . .this whole artical is wrong has wrong information. . even if you read the “quran” you will find that it justifies killing and raping. . .if you don’t believe me then go and read that book. . . or you could just go to Egypt and see for yourself. . if you even walk with a cross around your neck they will try to kill you for that. .i know because i experianced it all. . . do not even think on disagreing on what i am saying. . . go and read that book or go to any arab country and come back and then come talk to me and tell me what you think of jihad and the entire muslim religion
