WASHINGTON—Sen. John Kerry leaves this weekend for a four-day trip that includes stops in Afghanistan and Pakistan, two key countries in the fight against terrorism.
more stories like thisAn aide says Kerry will depart Saturday as part of a congressional delegation. He will travel with Senate Foreign Relations Committee chairman Joe Biden and Nebraska Sen. Chuck Hagel.
They will observe the Feb. 18 parliamentary elections in Pakistan, and will met with Afghan leaders and American troops in Afghanistan.
The group also plans stops in India and Turkey to meet government leaders. Kerry chairs the Senate’s Near East and South Asia subcommittee.
