India missile test to start arms race: Pakistan

KARACHI (Reuters) - India’s successful test-firing of a nuclear-capable, submarine-launched missile will trigger a new arms race in the region, Pakistan’s navy chief said on Wednesday.

Nuclear-armed Pakistan and India have fought three wars since their partition and independence in 1947, and nearly went to war a fourth time in 2002, but relations have improved since they launched a peace process in 2004.

India, already capable of launches from land and air, tested the new missile on Tuesday from a surfaced submarine — a step closer to firing from under the sea and matching countries such as the United States, Russia, France and China.

“These developments…put nuclear weapons at sea and it is a very, very serious issue,” navy chief Admiral Muhammad Afzal Tahir told reporters in Karachi.

“This is going to start a new arms race in the region,” he was quoted as saying by the state-run Associated Press of Pakistan. Indian officials say the K-15, a two-stage missile with a top range of 700 km (450 miles), will be eventually deployed with a domestically built nuclear submarine, after further tests.

The two South Asian countries routinely test missiles in spite of their peace process.

PLEASE NATE THAT ALL THESE WEAPONS LAUNCHED FROM SUBMARINES ARE NOT TO TARGET PAKISTAN …..THEY KNOW THAT WE CAN RETALIATE WITH GROUNDBASE MISSILES .

THERE IS NO NEED TO GET INTO THE WEAPONS RACE WITH INDIA FOR THIS .

That is actually correct there, we need to stop spending millions on the developing the weaopns and start feeding the needy people there. Also we should stop palying in the hands of china and usa waging their own wars and using the both(india and pakistan).

I BELIEVE THAT A COUNTRY SHOULD BE TOUGH ENOUGH TO PROTECT IT’S PEOPLE. ACCORDING TO PUNIT IF INDIA SPENDS ALL IT’S MONEY ON FEEDING THE POOR…THEN WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF AN OTHER COUNTRY LAUNCHES A MISSILE. THINK, MORE PEOPLE WOULD BE DEAD THAN THE STARVING

this nuclear weapons is madness , these wepons can flaton both countries and make the soil infertile for 1000’s of yearrs , Imagine a pakistan or india with not a single living thing ,

Pakistan should first understand their financial status and the political scene since independence or partition and try to settle down instead of challenging India. India is a combination of multiple Pakistans and has enough muscle power to over through any country excepting Russia, US & China to some extent, and is in the path to become a regional superpower by 2025. Pakistan should understand their geographical length and width before even speaking war of words than a war, because they just cannot win because of any nuclear wepons, its the manpower, mobility and execution in which India is way ahead and has technical supermacy which is the edge. One thing is for sure though India won all the wars it fought with pakistan india never took any initiative to split or take back POK rather it wanted to solve it through dialogue so that next generation can live in peace. Instead of fighting for kashmir lets fight to unite India and Pakistan and go back to the old days as how our forefathers livied… This is the only solution

Why dont we just declare full scale war on each other and just destroy ourselves and get it over with. Its would be a brave course instead of bitching with each other for centuries. India will be be committing sati and we will embrace shahadat.

The sanity in this situation is not in reading history but ignoring it because it is a history of two monkey people.
You know how to catch a monkey. You make a small hole in the ground wide enough for a monkeys open hand to go in and too narrow for a closed monkey hand to come out and than put a handfull of nuts in it. And guess what the monkey does. He will not let the nuts go to release himself.
