WiredPakistan.com Forum Hacked

It seems that WiredPakistan.com has remained in the spotlight this February. It was barely a month back on Feb 5th that Pakistan Telecommunication Authority blocked this website for no apparent reason, when Khalid Omar probed the PTA extensively they were slow to respond but finally after two weeks of pestering unblocked the website without giving any reason as to why it happened in the first place. Suddenly today KO was yet again shocked to discover that the popular forum hosted on the wiredpakistan.com was suddenly hacked and all contents deleted.

Talking to KO a few minutes back he was definitely far more concerned as he had no backup and as luck would have it his host had over written yesterday’s backup with the hacked version for the day hence destroying any/all chances of restoring and recovering back to normalcy. I am also told that we might have actually been using an older version of the forum software which may have provided an opening for an exploit. An intense investigation is underway and he has uploaded his latest log files for any investigator in helping locate the culprit. All said this is good time for all website hosts to ensure that all server software are update and they have planned regular backup for everything.

Lucky for KO, the community will rally around him in support and it wont be long before WiredPakistan comes back with another bang.
