What should be the priorities of the new government that comes to power in Islamabad, Pakistan?
Currently, there are many things being discussed seemingly as the priorities of the government; some of them are the revival of the 1973 constitution by scrapping the constitution currently in vogue, the removal of 58-2b, the restoration of deposed judges who were on the benches till 2nd November 2007 etc.
This is cause for consternation to the people of Pakistan. They are alarmed at the new government, of whatever complexion it may be, pursuing a course that does not concern them at least not immediately.
They would be more comfortable with the leaders of new government talking about tackling the problems facing the people on a war footing such as the problems of terrorism, short supply and high prices of essential commodities, load-shedding, water reservoirs etc to name only a few.
The people would be happier if the incoming government gave priority to solving their immediate problems and put legal, constitutional other matters on the back burner to be tackled, if at all, after solving the more immediate problems.
The Pakistani people are greatly alarmed lest the new government begins on a sour note and takes up matters first on which there is already a difference of point of view among the public, the experts and the political parties. Worst, the people fear that the difference is so acute that it might lead to confrontation and we may go back to square one as far as Democracy is concerned – and to hell with people’s problems!
But the Murree Declaration signed on Sunday between the leaders of the two main parties of the country, the PPPP and the PML-N, is a very hopeful sign indeed. It shows that the two main parties of the country have agreed to relegate a back seat to their previously avowed deeds and have decided to tackle the people’s problems first. This is an act that can not be lauded enough and shows that the political leadership in Pakistan has matured indeed even though it has been engaged in a lot of political rhetoric and continues to do so even now.
Asif Ali Zardari, the Co-chairman of the party bagging the most seats in the 18th February 2009 national elections has happily shown great political acumen, although it was hardly expected of him, by taking along other parties with him although he didn’t really need them.
But now there is one more thing he must do. He must take the people of Pakistan along with him too. It may be argued that the people have already voted for his party and thus given their verdict. But the thing this writer must point out is that the problems facing the new government are enormous; they are almost insurmountable as he is probably well aware.
Therefore while the wizards of the party engage themselves in solving those problems he must also garner the co-operation of the people of the country – not just the PPPP supporters. This can only be done if Asif Zardari along with his party stalwarts is seen to be shunning political rhetoric and putting his mind towards solving the problems confronting the people whether they succeed in their efforts or not!
The most pressing problem facing the country is of terrorism and extremism because if there is no peace or security in the country then while new investors are certainly not going to come into Pakistan and the existing ones may start to leave.
The problem of terrorism and extremism must be tackled first whether through negotiations or military action or a combination of both but it must be given top priority.
The new government can successfully pursue its agenda after first solving this problem.

The first and top priority of the government is to reinstate the judges. The Deposed Judges would resume the case of the Zionist agent (R) General, who has twice abused the constitution of the Bush administration. The US and Zionist agent Generals have decided to break this country into pieces, and IBLEES Musharraf, the real YAZID of 21st century is the leader of the IBLEESI Generals who have destroyed every institution since 1999.
As soon as the judges are reinstated,Musharraf should be arrested with treason charges. Hhe sould be publically hanged near Liaquat Bagh, who BB was assassinated at the behest of IBLEES Musharraf.Secondly ZIA’s grave must be dinamited with IED and his bones should be set fire. All the retired Generals, who hatched conspiracies against this country should be handed over to firing squad. This is the only way to save Pakistan. Lastly the defence budget should be reducedd to 1 percent of the total GDP.The generals have eaten the public money for the last 60 years. Now it should be reduced as quick as possible. The rest of money should be spent on education, health and poverty eleviation.

One doesn’t feel like calling you ’sufi’ because your comment above shows that the language you use is devilish and even the thoughts.
In any case, you sound like one of the suicide bombers who are hellbent on destroying innocent lives and maiming innocent people and have thus imperiled Pakistan!
How can your opinion be respected?

Foremost problem to solve is to provide cheap and speeedy justice to poor masses of Pakistan. Reinstating of Judges should be prerequisite to meet this requirement. Bribery and Nepotism is the order of day among Judges. Lawyers are acting like butcher for public when common person go and want to hire their services. There should be code of conduct for lawyers to charge fee for cases from peoples. There should be some arrangement where common man can get Lawyers services cheaply.
