Sacked Supreme Court chief justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry will visit his hometown of Quetta on March 31 to meet relatives and address Balochistan bar associations, Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) President Aitzaz Ahsan told reporters on Wednesday.

This announcement came after a meeting of senior lawyers and judges convened at the residence of the deposed chief justice. Former SCBA presidents Munir A Malik and Justice (r) Tariq Mehmood and Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) former vice president Ali Ahmad Kurd were among the meeting participants.

Aitzaz said the sacked chief justice had been detained at his house for four months after the proclamation of emergency and had not been to his hometown for over a year. In Quetta, Chaudhry would meet his relatives and offer fateha at the graves of his parents, and would then attend a dinner hosted by the Balochistan High Court Bar Association and also address the Sukkar Bar Association, he said.
