Pakistan’s first TeleCON begins today

KARACHI: Pakistan’s first telecommunication congress, TeleCON’2008, gets underway in Karachi from Tuesday (today) with arrangements complete to host the country’s premier telecommunication event in a befitting manner. Industry leaders from all over the country have arrived in the city to participate in the 2-day forum.

The congress is designed to discuss the emergence and viability of new technologies in the next phase of the communication era in the world. TeleCON’2008 is expected to be a benchmark event for the development of the industry. Speakers from Pakistan and international markets representing global organisations will deliver concepts, strategies, recommendations and insight into trends and challenges that will be the nucleus of the future of telecommunications in Pakistan.

“TeleCON’2008 has been meticulously planned, having encouraged all key players in the telecom sector to converge in Karachi to deliberate and participate in a forum that has the merits of becoming a signature event of the industry in the times to come. From highlighting Pakistan’s existing telecom infrastructure, unveiling the myth and reality of connectivity and mobility, value-additions, protection and challenges in customer care and other testing subjects will be the core of discussions at the moot,” said Menin Rodrigues, the Congress Chairman.

Telecom & IT companies being represented at TeleCON’2008 include: Mobilink, Telenor, Etisalat/PTCL, Motorola, Wateen Telecom, Nokia-Siemens, Multinet Pakistan, China Mobile Pakistan, Alcatel-Lucent, Nortel Networks Asia, Ericsson, Warid Telecom, Systems, Netsol Technologies, Qualcomm USA and Central Asian CDMA Forum. staff report
