A PAKISTAN Navy ship, PNS Badr will be paying a goodwill visit to Doha port from May 5-9, the Pakistan embassy said.
The crew will interact with Qatar’s Emiri Naval Force, hold an onboard reception and also take part in friendly sports fixtures.
Commanded by Captain Khalid Rashid, PNS Badr will be open to visitors from the Pakistani community from 2.30pm-4.30pm on May 7 and 8 and to students of Pakistani schools from 10.30am-12.30pm on May 5 and 6.
Passes to visit the ship can be obtained from the Pakistan embassy on April 29 and 30 between 1.30pm and 3.30pm.
A graduate of Pakistan Navy War College, Captain Rashid joined the force in 1983 and assumed command of PNS Badr in July last year.
The ship’s motto is ‘Dare, Believe and Win’.
PNS Badr was commissioned on March 1, 1994 at Devonport, England. It is the fourth Type-21 destroyer in the Pakistan Navy.
Fitted with Harpoon missiles, PNS Badr is capable of engaging targets at stand-off range and thereby deters enemy forces from entering territorial waters. – RC
