Almost an year back, following the links on the Google search results for ‘Baluchistan Geography’ I happened to visit a blog titled Gedrosia. The content at the blog came as a surprise to me and I dropped an email to the blog-owner. Today, I feel myself in a better position to understand his feelings, being a Baloch, after I have been to Baluchistan a couple of weeks back.
I present you the email conversation, from the archives.

Hello,
I just noticed your webblog titled Gedrosia.
What does the flag on the main page signifies ? I mean who or what does it represent?
Secondly the image ‘Hands of Baluchistan’ says polluting your motherland with nuclear. You are probably referring to Baluchistan as your motherland, isnt Pakistan your motherland too ? And how was it polluted ? You should be proud that Chaghi was the place which created a history by brininging the pride for all Pakistanis when we were declared 8th Nuclear Power - and the first Islamic.
I would love to have your comments on this.
Thanks,
Ale
Gedrosia blog-owner replied:
Dear Mr. Ale
Thanks for visiting my weblog.
With regards to your question about the flag I would like to inform you that this flag is Balochistan flag. Old name of the area which is Balochistan now and divided between Pakistan, Iran and Afghanistan was Gedrosia.
Secondly we would have been proud if the money spent on atomic blasts had been spent on colleges and universities in Balochistan and on justice and equality in Pakistan.
We would have been proud if there was democracy and rule of law -a law where you had equality amongst the people.
We would have been proud if we had our mother languages and national identity in a union of states around Indus which could have been named as Pakistan or States of Indus..
There is no pride on nuclear which is source of destruction, deprivation and oppression.
Until such time when Baloch, Punjabi and Sindhis have equal rights in a demilitarised Pakistan a Baloch, a Sindhi or an ordinary Punjabi will have no pride; the pride stays on media and at the tip of sticks not in hearts and minds of people.
Best Regards
Walid
