The following newsreport from Daily Express, July 7, 2007 says a bomb was thrown from a car at the police contingent in Islamabad on Sunday. It was not a suicide attack. As soon as the convention came to an end, the Senior Superintendent of Police ordered the officers to “Fall in.” They got in a line. After a few minutes a white car appeared ont he scene and threw a powerful bomb on the police. - Eye withness police office.

The attack was carried out from a Suzuki Carry Van. Police officer, Shaukat, from Punjab Police Platoon NO. 3 told the reporters told the police that as soon as the convention came to an end, SSP Islamabad Captain Retired Ahmad Latif told his officers in emergency to “fall in.” As a result most of the police officers standing at the street conrner and convinient store shake, got alert. Shaukat said, he was also included and the police officers fall in one line. A few minutes later, a while Suzuki Van appeared with a few people in there. It came fast toward Melodi crossing from in front of the Aabpara Police Station and GPO. Someone opened the door and threw somehting towards the police officers. There was a big blast and next body parts were scattered everywhere with a strong smell of burning flesh. According to Shaukat, the officers were more alerted due to SSP call for “Fall in” and some officers just ran away when they saw the speeding Suzuki Van, and escape the attack.
