Think you are not aware of GEO…

It’s been funded by USA Govt…… just think what Jew /Indian/ American lobby want …

The basic idea is to promote frustration, and despondence in a nation, so
they start to demoralize and the future can be mapped as they want to
project it in the minds of 50 percent illiterate population.. ..

That are born Muslim, can’t read, but can see.

Why on earth USA is concern with only GEO, why CNN, BBC and bush quote GEO?

Why not other TV channels in China, Japan, Cuba, India, Saudi Arabia, France?

Why only Pakistan???? ??

Why geo showed peoples’ bodies without head, only finger parts, people
dying after bomb blast? Does any other channel show these things? Just think……

in India more than 2000 Muslims were killed in Gujarat in
three months!!!! Did you see any 36 hours live coverage of these
killings? Has anyone seen this on ZEE or Star or Sony etc… any Indian channels ????

Babri Masjid was destroyed by Hindus…. any live coverage????

Nuns in Tamil Nado of India were burnt alive in a church and for next 6 hours
the church kept burning. Did any Indian channel or CNN or BBC show
that???? In France, 700 cars were burnt in one day… yet no coverage.
There were 89 separatist movements in India in 2007 …from Bihar to Kashmir, Assam etc…

Did you see on any Indian channel showing 250 million people sleeping on footpath???? ?

Zee India never showed killing of Kashmiris and the attack on

GOLDEN TEMPLE, killing of Sikhs on Indian soil
How many Israeli channels show killing by Israeli soldiers, when they
kill Palestinians?????

Have you ever seen Indian president or politician being verbally
abused on TV channels during live coverage????
There have been reported 30,000 rape cases in USA… do you see on
TV????

But you see Mukhtaran maee on GEO/CNN/BBC
Why geo was not concerned with Benazir’s wealth and property?? And
Nawaz Sharif’s property?

WHO is GEO????

Just think…

They telecasted false news about emergency and hence the
stock market crashed in Pakistan…
Do you know Kamran Khan was getting Rs. 25 lakh per month?
Do you know Dr. Shahid Masood, was a member of NSF student party (a
political left wing student party against Pakistan and Islamic
forces…. with Rs. 22 lacs per month and home in Dubai and Karachi
Same amount been paid to Hamid Mir editor ‘Ausaf’……even Nadia Khan
with Rs 6 lacs per month… Such huge amount, just to for free????
When they were not able to broadcast the 8-hour cricket match, they
said they lost 1 billion rupees, and just imagine without any money
just for free they were broadcasting judge activity in peoples party
car for free, Nawaz Sharif and Benazir for free……

All 36 hour coverage just for free????? By a private channel!!!!! !
50 percent Indian dramas on GEO and 25 percent with mix cast (Indian and Pakistani) and Indian films.
Movie like ‘Khuda key liyaeh’ an issue of religion, so that people can
play with Islam and its culture was telecasted.
Alim online where Mr. Amir Liaqat sitting in grave and dramatizing
Islam. He translated the dua of Imam Kaaba and broadcasted his name on TV….

Audience: 50% Jahil people in Pakistan
GEO did not show any good news like Islamabad Peshawar motorway but
instead it showed dead people in Karachi ….they never discuss 5.1
billion dollar of oil refinery in Pakistan, instead they show
beheading of Pakistani people… never discuss why America is telling
Musharf to take off his uniform????/ why is USA interfering in our business!!!! !!!!!!!!! !!!!!!

Itna jhoot bolo, k log sumjhen kuch to succh ho ga …

Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H.) said…

BaddGumaanee nahi karna chahiyeh…

and also said that

for a Muslim it is a lie if he states without any Enquiry/ Investigation

A COUNTRY where 60 percent of population cannot read and has never
been to school, the media must not be free……

Regards . . .
a Pakistani

u have a good point here,,all the live coverages of dead bodies and voilence that is shown on geo does create impatience and hatred in the heart of the people..they get frustrated and the crime rate increases..
i never thougt of geo like this but u have evoked a vey good point here.
i must say people should be aware of whats happening but the things which create voilence and impatience should be kept under the cover which geo doesnt do…

Great analysis … I am myself sick and tired of Pakistan media which seems to be growing like a wild weed …. they talk same things and all of it is depressing … I hardly find any refreshing content on TV once I go back home tired from work…

i don’t that Geo is funded by USA or any other anti-Pakistan nation, but i know that Media in our Pakistan is exploding the emotions of our people.

Killing the innocence of people, no humanity remains in our people, people lost their patient.

I know, mostly people in our country do not know their rights and media is teaching them, but my dear media concern people 50 years purna merz ak dam thik nae hota.

To be honest, media has exploded and mis used their part.

Full marks for bringing this up. It is like you have taken the thoughts out of our minds. These fire breathing , moan moan journalists should be blocked out of our minds. They want the people to be negative and cynical of the future. Full marks.
But please a most polite request. GEO is the creation of bad Jews only. there are good jews also. I had a jewish friend in SOAS who had a heart of gold.

Arite..Orite..this is not the analysis of this author…this thing is going on for more than a year now…google about it and you will know..I dont work for GEO but I am sick and tired of this hoax mail.
Guyz, are u ppl too small to understand tht there is always a bueraucracy behind political and media institutions which ppl use for their interests?
And HALLO…its the MODERN ERA..at least GEO IS BETTER THAN THE PTV we used to see….all they used to tell was about ground breaking cermonies of tubewells!
This note doesnt make any sense because no evidence is provided. Mir Shakeel ur Rahman is not a JEW, INDIAN OR AMERICAN.
Come with facts, and I will be the first one to splash the mud on GEO’S face…but as u said its sinful to say something without verification…THEN THE SAME GOES FOR YOU TOO..U HV COMMITED A SIN by BLAMING GEO WITH NO PROOFS.
    your literacy rates are wrong…

I was small but I still remember the hindu saints climbing the walls of the Babri Masjid and shattering its dome. I saw it with my eyes the martyr of Babri Mosque…
Over the Hijab Issue in France…several cars were SHOWN LIVE ON SKY NEWS and other channels…
So many times the indian media has shown clips of ULFA in terrorist activities…
Have u ppl forgoton the VEERAPAN incident..?
IN the note the author asked :-
Have you ever seen Indian president or politician being verbally
abused on TV channels during live coverage????
YES…SEVERAL TIMES…havent u seen their fights in the parliament SHOWN LIVE ON TV…and other ppl commenting on IT…?!?!

Well, we should be grateful for the mediums we have for news so that everytime we know wts right and wrong…now at least we can debate on issues concerning our lives…GEO DOST AND AAJ’S REPORTER PAKISTANI gives ordinary people like u and me to report incidents and viewpoints…Be grateful for this blessing…Do u like to live in the world of censorship…then time travel to Hitler’s era or go to Russia or China…they would purge u …and u wont even know!

  • 11 Sufi // Jul 31, 2008 at 7:42 pm

This is ridiculous and absurd allegation against the most prestigious and widely respected TV channel. This has become a fashion to lash out on everyone and everything. We all say Jews are doing this jews are doing that, this is US agent those are friends of Israel….. I am sick of such thinking. We should make our home in order rather then issue fatwas and allegations.
We are sick of such people who call shots against others while their house is in a state of turmoil. Call shots against those who have exploited this nation in the name of religion, who fought their war in the name of religion, who challange the US and send their sons to the US. Hypocrite are living within.

  • 12 oal // Jul 31, 2008 at 10:34 pm

This thread may deserve practical comment free of insult and umbrage both as few in the world have need or time for either.

Whatever the source of news–Geo, any other major web portal, any small blog, any flyer, any broadsheet–one may expect the following:

–Factual data: who, what, when, where, how, and why? Every truthful news statement answers those questions at least minimally.

–Verifiable and reliable data: any expression of fact may be accepted at face value, but one may want to check any first assertion or report with a second or third observation or responsible report, and not necessarily from cooperating sources.

In that few have the resources or time to investigate a story themselves, we may look instead for corroboration between diverse news sources.

If one has doubts about Geo’s reporting on a story, one may read about the same from Aljazeera, and then not stop there–head to Reuters and the BCC, and if that’s not enough, go to France24 — http://www.france24.com/en/middle-east/ — and may all Google on to all elsewhere in the world.

Good factual information is first of all questionable: it may be met with skepticism but also pursued, tested, corroborated, and found, when one has read enough or conducted interviews enough and to satisfaction, undeniable.

Beyond the factual, argument or pursuasive speech may be of another order.

In the west, appeals based on the character of the speaker–and that may include credibility derived from a respected ancestry; to emotion (to fear and suspicion of a target; to the listener’s ego through compliment, flattery, and promise; and to fundamentally practical thinking may mark a clever speaker, not necessarily one invested with goodness. For judging that, as listeners or readers, we may be careful to weigh a speaker’s words in light of his less articulated or visible ambitions and unspoken motives.

good one…it should be the way..with some alteration…ur idea could make the media perfect..

  • 14 oal // Aug 1, 2008 at 12:01 am

Abdul Basit Khawaja said, “good one…it should be the way..with some alteration…ur idea could make the media perfect..”

Would such ideas were mine alone.

Were I to list five dimensions with which to judge the acceptability of commentary and reportage universally, they would be these:

    1. Accuracy.

    2. Depth.

    3. Fairness.

    4. Humanity.

    5. Integrity.

  • 15 Abdul Basit Khawaja // Aug 1, 2008 at 12:25 am

    Accuracy - sure
Depth - not neccessary when time’s short and news big..if its accurate..go ahead..time will add new things to the story…If times available..then surely it should be inside out
Fairness-thts the basic rule…but in a news item there is always a culprit and always a victim…
Humanity-erhmm…yea..some scenes shouldnt been shown…could be disturbing for viewers..
Integrity - this is in the hand of the culprit..

  • 16 oal // Aug 1, 2008 at 1:23 am

The subject of depth in reporting may not be one we should take for granted.

In addition to having a significant story for a subject–or a mind that finds the significance in a small story–investigating and writing about a subject at length, especially a politically sensitive one, requires a certain measure of security for the writer.

The work of the Committee to Protect Journalists (http://www.cpj.org/) makes it clear how tenuous that protection has been around the globe.

Fairness: in contemporary communicating, especially with regard to this web-based circulation of information, fairness may have to come about through concordance in the community of interest that follows a given story; among humans, of course, there are no perfect writers.

Judgment at the editing desk: the more channels to choose from, the more channels to turn off!

    :D

However, yes, journalists and their editors–those who determine what gets published on the Internet or printed page–have very much a responsible role to play in determining the needs of the audience in respect first to providing helpful information and then to the consideration of various wants and sensibilities involving aesthetics, decorum, ethics, family, and religion.

I’ll leave discussion of “integrity” for another day as it may be cousin to “authenticity”, which then gets into “loyalty”, with that last social value becoming a variable in how one may approach the study of observation, articulation, and presentation.

In general, however, I believe good will should far excede ill in writing.

  • 17 Abdul Basit Khawaja // Aug 1, 2008 at 1:29 am

of course…it will…wt u hv suggested is perfect…but this thing is too difficult in this imperfect world…but nothingz impossible…if reforms start to take place…then u never know…v could or our future generation could boast of a free and fair media

  • 18 oal // Aug 1, 2008 at 3:11 am

Parts of the global news environment are just plain weird and may do much to inspire curiosity and scrutiny.

Relevant to this thread, Googling “GEO TV investor services” doesn’t yield much: that much right there enables and inspires suspicion, and it leaves the entity frankly, dark.

    Who owns Geo TV?

From what I’ve been able to glean from the web, the Geo TV’s CEO is Mir Ibrahim Rahman, and bits and pieces of his web presence (and lineage) may be Googled.

More rule than exception in many corners of the world may be the ironic presence of missing information–what’s not published online–i.e., material that doesn’t at first look like it’s missing. In varying hands, that “negative information” (just like “negative space” in art) provides a slate for invention.

Such secrecy involving social elites may be a necessary thing–I don’t know–but I know it’s not a good thing.

  • 19 cabool // Aug 2, 2008 at 11:19 am

Some points made earlier regarding Media.

1, That selection and projection of news and events should be for a purpose which is not insideous.

    2. That media should intelligently communicate so as to educate and help people understand.

    3. It should promote harmony.

    4. It should play watch and ward on government and beaurocracy

But everything boils down to who forms the government and what role the people have in it. Who owns the media and what are its objectives.

I am personally sick of people who will see our enemies behind everything that happens because the earth is in motion. And the list of our enemies is huge. Just think about it. If it is not the India, our enemy number one, than it is Israel our enemy Number one also. If not these two than it is USA our enemy number one again. And if it is not USA and it is not them than it is Afghanistan our other enemy number one. And if all these enemies no 1 cannot be blamed than it is NATO . And guess what NATO is also …………………….. you have guessed it right- enemy number one. I dont mention Russia because she was our enemy number one but we destroyed her. mercy
Now that just about makes the entire world our enemy. whyaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Please think and let me know cause i have lived in this country too long to have that faculty any more

  • 20 Abdul Basit Khawaja // Aug 3, 2008 at 12:29 pm

See…Our governments are not fighting their own wars. They have always being used by people who want to use them no matter if it a Haq, Bhutto, Sharif or a Musharaf ruling. Give education today and see a revolution after 10 years in our mindsets.

Moreover, what I dont like about GEO in particular is that it does not have a single show portraying good things about Pakistan. There is a show on GEO which is called YEH HAI PAKISTAN. The title song of the program makes one thing that it will provide details of Pakistan’s beauty and heritage as folk music of all the provinces is used for the title track. But all that show talks about is electricity shortage, rapes, taliban, thefts and other crime news same with the program METROLITE. Instead of showing good things regarding cities, even it shows things which dissappoint. That does not mean that what these shows are showing is false. ITS TRUE AND A SAD PART OF OUR SOCIETY. But there are so many beautiful things happening in our country despite all the distress. This tip is for all channels like EXPRESS NEWS, SAMAA etc. who have special shows to report crime fact and figures every week. I would suggest all these channels to put some programmes which shows great things related to this society.

  • 21 cabool // Aug 3, 2008 at 2:07 pm

    couldnt agree with you more.
Just to show what all is wrong and make people angry and agitated does not serve any purpose.
The media must also show the quality of life where these problems do not exist. It would be a good idea for the media to show situations in other countries where people have been able to solve the problems which are being shown, as comparisons so that people can feel what life can be. This generates creative thinking and produces ideas to solve problems.

  • 22 cabool // Aug 3, 2008 at 2:16 pm

Is there a TV channel that devotes one hour a day to teach people how to read and write. I know of a country where they were able to teach a large section of their illiterate adult population how to read and write though radio and telivision.

  • 23 Abdul Basit Khawaja // Aug 3, 2008 at 11:38 pm

VIRTUAL UNIVERSITY AND AIOU programmes on PTV is a good example but we also make such programmmes butt of our jokes…due to JAHILIAT

  • 24 oal // Aug 4, 2008 at 2:08 am

When people fight–couples, countries, gangs, or neighbors–the world has a way of going on around them.

“But there are so many beautiful things happening our country despite all the distress . . . I would suggest all these channels to put some programmes which show great things related to this society.”

“News”, practically by definition and in response to the attention-grabbing needs of those who produce it (and financially support it), is seldom good. That’s part of why we read it, listen to it, and watch it; however, all recognize the implied alternative in doing and promoting good.

So far as I know, Nai Tazi places no restrictions on the reporting of good news.

Why not start here under a separate headline–new article–and leading with the five most beautiful things happening in Pakistan right now?

Publishing has become that simple. Big Media, and certainly not GEO, has little control over All Media, and this is as much a part of that as any outlet or portal on earth.

  • 25 cabool // Aug 4, 2008 at 9:45 am

The first best thing going is you people of the Naitazi.com and others like you. You have given me a great idea and will certainly contribute in this way on Naitazi.com

  • 26 cabool // Aug 7, 2008 at 3:39 pm

A beautifull big lake has just sprung up near Balaksehr on the Lahore Islamabad motorway. Last year the government built a dam on River Doran (a seasonal stream) and it has created a big lake. The people of the area are so happy because this has brought so much water for their fields and changed the ecology. The lake I am told is already full of fish and people from big cities have started buying land around it for holliday homes. I dont know why GEO and the Jews berhind it have not discovered it yet.

    Who owns Geo TV?

  • 29 oal // Aug 8, 2008 at 5:51 pm

    “Who owns Geo TV?”

    Broadly speaking, the Jang Group.

However, unlike, say, the U.S. CBS network, it’s going to take more than two minutes on the web to find out who sits on the board with Geo TV’s CEO Mir Ibrahim Rahman.

Writing for IPS, Beena Sarwar, “Geo News, Pakistan’s first and largest 24-hour news channel, for which the young reporter and television host has worked since its launch in 2002, is part of the country’s largest media company, the Jang Group which owns several newspapers and magazines. Its television network broadcasts from Media City, a free-zone in Dubai from where it beams to a satellite network. ”

The Jang Group web site, http://thenews.jang.com.pk/ yields an online newspaper page, The News International.

Representing Jang Group on the Government Press Relations Committee, Syed Sarmad A. Ali, has served Jang as Managing Director, Marketing and Sales.

According to the web site of the All Pakistan Newspaper Society, Mr. Ali “was responsible for setting up Pakistan’s first television audience measurement system in 1991. He has a master’s degree from Villanova University, Pa, USA” (reference: http://www.apns.com.pk/obearers.htm).

Geo TV and other Jang Group properties were among those affected last year (November 2007) by President Musharraf’s emergency censorship of the media.

One may find it more the rule than exception in media community worldwide that intellectually ambitious personalities steeped in publishing technologies and international culture find their way into management and ownership of media companies. However, the public relations practice of releasing information having to do with boards of directors or top executives may vary between cultures and within-business or company cultures. Clearly, it has not been in the Jang Group’s interest to produce an online page or two about its leadership.

Is the board of directors of the Jang Group Jewish?

    I doubt it.

As parts of a media conglomerate, the behavior of the Jang Group’s brands–its newspapers and other outlets–may simply fit with contemporary media norms worldwide.

I have been to some countries related to india and i know how they work. I am not sure GEO-TV is sponsored by INDIA or USA, but i am sure they are not favorable to islam and islamic culture.

Indians have a method of brain washing their enemies with films and dramas. And INDIA will strike to the core before launching a face to face attack. So i believe through GEO they are corrupting the culture of pakistan so in future pakistani people will welcome indian life style by them selves.

PAKISTAN has some laws which were established when PAKISTAN was made. All those laws tell us one thing , that pakistan was , is and will be a MUSLIM NATION for ever. USA and INDIA are the common enemies of pakistani muslims and someday we have to understand this. We would simply die if pakistan would become like india. Today we are happy in our homes and sitting with our children because of the beautiful things pakistan and islamic culture has brought us.

It is time we understand what they are trying to destroy and we must protect those with everything we got.
