9/21: Pakistan Under Attack

September 21st, 2008 Partylicious · 4 Comments

War has come to Pakistan’s door step a long time ago. It is most unfortunate that even till yesterday, many of us denied this fact. Not any more. Not when War has pushed in to our house and is now in our living rooms, in our bedrooms, in our backyards, every where around us.

Pakistan is under attack!

1000 KG of explosives have rocked the Marriott Hotel in the capital tonight. As of this moment, some 70 people have been reported dead and close to 300 injured. This count does not include any fatalities that might still be burning bodies on the upper floors of the hotel where fires are still raging and the authorities are trying their best to douse the flames.

There are fears among officials that the building might collapse under the brunt of such a massive explosion that not only destroyed the hotel but many other buildings in its vicinity. The crater caused by the explosion is said to be 15 feet deep and 20 feet wide! That should tell you the intensity of the blast as it was.

    the country is under attack, the capital is burning, ppl all around are petrified and chaos and commotion besiege the city. everyone is looking upto the leadership while the demented leader is least bothered as observed in his initial jittery and rather frivolous speech when he’s running out of words and waiting for assisstance to help put words in his mouth so he can console the aggrieved nation..!!!

    and in less than 24 hours of the horrendous attacks left the capital for US, who has imposed its was on us to fight and the consequences of that war include the very unfortunate incident that his own minister reffered to as the 9/11 of Pakistan and the most deadly suicide attack ever..

    america is also using such incidents to convince us that we are rightfully fighting the “war of terror” and the presence of aluminium powder in the explosives is a concrete evidence in support of this notion.

    leadership is meant to show solidarity to the sufferers and the nation at such times. but unfortunately we have the most insensitive ppl at the top leadership who are themselves mentally deranged and disoriented and seeking refuge from the country’s current situation instead of facing it like a man, along with the tormented nation..
    i’m sure God will help us if we start helping ourselves to get rid of such a scum!

    The timing of the attack may have addressed who was going to be out of the country as well as who was going to be in the building.

    In every one of the “open socieites”, politicians would “grandstand” on such an event. They would be traveling to it, grabbing the megaphones, revving up their PR machines and generally currying favor with the injured public.

    In Pakistan, it may be up to the common man to hurry to the aid of the injured, to produce charity (by volunteering in a hospital; if in business, offering a job to someone who may have lost a job because of the bombing; by even just thinking about security and finding ways to improve the lot of those struggling on behalf of the state to provide it).

    There’s that imperative, “Do not be like those who . . . split into factions and fall into disputes.”

    Someone knows where the chemicals came from, also the grenade, and who drove that truck.

    @Muneeba

    you have nightmares of Zardari chasing you with knife in mouth and you cannot run. You try to run but the ground under you slipping all the time and Zardari getting closer. you get ready because it really going to happen.
