Islamabad, Oct 4 (PTI) Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari today reviewed security situation across the country with army chief Ashfaq Parvez Kayani and both of them agreed to continue the military operation against the Taliban in the restive Bajaur tribal region bordering Afghanistan.

Kayani met Zardari at the presidential palace here and the two discussed the security situation in the country and the war on terror, especially the anti-militancy operation in Bajaur tribal agency, TV channels reported.

Kayani said the military operation in Bajaur will continue and the move was endorsed by Zardari. The army chief also said security forces were having success in Bajaur and a large number of militants had been eliminated.

Zardari said Pakistan will continue its war against terrorism till peace is ushered in across the country. He said nobody will be allowed to “spread negativity in the country that could prove detrimental to national sovereignty”.

Kayani also briefed the President on his recent visit to Bajaur, Malakand and Peshawar.

Matters related to the army’s professional capabilities were also discussed. Zardari expressed satisfaction at the competence of the armed forces, which “could efficiently tackle difficult situations”.

The Pakistani military last month launched a major operation against the local Taliban in Bajaur. More than 1,000 Taliban fighters have so far been killed in Bajaur and army officials have said that success in the operation in this region is key to quelling militancy across the tribal belt. PTI

In initiating terrorism, Pakistan cooked a near perfect poison laced dish for India, and the recipe was lauded by separatists and extremists alike. And then came the time when when its own brethren in the NWFP made them taste the same very dish with added garnishing. In kashmir they are abetting killing of Hindus and muslims alike (bombs and bullets are not religion specific), In the rest of India they are helping extremists in planting explosive devises and killing innocent people in the name of jihad. Further, they are killing their own brothers and sisters in Baluchistan. So be it reason A., B., or C., they have nothing else to do than to kill. The world knows what pakistan is upto, but since this is the only friendly Islamic country in this region for the US, it becomes all the more important for the US to look the other way. Otherwise, with organised training camps for terrorists and safe hideouts for mercenaries, Pakistan would have been the first choice for the US to point its blazing guns to. Even before Iraq or Iran or Libia
