An open letter to Ansar Abbasi

This is with reference to your investigative report on jacked up marks of Chief Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar’s daughter in FSc exams, which lead to her admission to a private medical college controversially. Firstly, I would like to appreciate you in special and the whole team of The News Investigation Cell in general for unearthing this story and highlighting academic corruption and dacoity by the high up of the Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Islamabad. No doubt, this was an excellent piece of investigative work which posed threat to all the corrupt high officials and influentials of this country. Now from today, all such people would think one thousands times before committing this type of corrupt practices. Secondly, I would like to ask you, Mr Ansar Abbasi, as to how re-assessing of answer books, raise in marks and admission of Farah Hameed Dogar to a private medical college on reserved seat for judges ‘became a mass denial of thousands of students throughout the country’. In fact this jacked up result hasn’t denied the right of even one student as had Farah not been given these 21 marks, that seat would have been remained vacant because this was the seat reserved for judges’ kin in that private medical college. So it will not be unfair to mention here that you exaggerated the facts to create sensationalism and justified those allegations leveled against the media that journalist and anchorpersons create sensationalism in the country by exaggerating the things and distorting the facts. True the CJ Dogar’s daughter has been given marks illegally, but this was not ‘mass denial of rights of thousands of students’ in fact. Secondly, I would like to ask you Mr Ansar Abbasi that tens of reporters work under the Editor Reporting and the Chief Reporter in ‘The News’, but credit of every story does not go to Editor Reporting or Chief Reporter. But, it is surprising to see that credit of every investigative story by ‘The News Investigation’ goes lonely to you in the byline of the story, despite this fact that scores of journalists work in the Investigation Cell of the newspaper. Is not this mass denial of scores of journalists by you Mr Ansar Abbasi in real sense? Yes, it is.Thirdly, I would suggest you Mr Ansar Abbasi to give due coverage to stories demanding abolishment of reserved seats in medical colleges. Had you launched campaign against reserved seats and quota system in medical colleges well in time with such a full strength as you did in this case, this would have been proved very beneficial to scores of students. Fourthly, I would like to give a few tips to you Mr Ansar Abbasi to unearth other stories and facts, which would bring real face of some influentials before nation. You should investigate as to which group of newspapers in which cities bought land and plazas for their offices for how much money and what was the actual land value at those places at that time. Moreover, you should also investigate which group of newspapers paid how much money as monthly utility bills of their offices in different cities and paid how much income tax yearly for last 30 years. Finally, the principled and praiseworthy journalist! You should also report that for how much money press clubs and lands for press clubs in each and every city in every nook and corner of this homeland was purchased right from the date of the Independence.

But I’m sure; you, the honest and truthful reporter, will not touch these stories in the ‘larger interest of the nation’.

Samia,
House No 273,
Street 12,
IJ Colony,
Kharian Cantt.

The writer is obviously not happy with the way the news have been tailored to extract maximum malice again CJ and others directly involved. As a neutral reader, I would whole-heartedly praise the efforts of Ansar Abbasi. There are tens of thousands of episodes (if not more) which have been brought in the papers but those are not followed up. There may be millions of wrongdoings which have eluded the print/electronic media.

Let us start afresh today with this case. Let us take other cases which ever are easily manage-able for straightening up the records and replenish the money back to government exchequer. Let us ask people who have done wrong to deposit back the money they have wrongly taken. The damage irrepairable and non-reversible by many should atleast be genuinely and remorsefully acknowledged to set example for the sake of existence of this poor nation. If we do not do, we would soon be ‘goners’.

  • 2 Samia // Dec 2, 2008 at 12:46 pm

Simply, I tried to say media, both electronic and print, should first make their own affairs fair before going for others’ matters.

  • 3 dr kamran // Dec 2, 2008 at 3:24 pm

I agree with samia that this all is done in way of drama. As we shld not waste our time in this regard that cj’s daughter was benefited, bcos this class always remain in goods,,, there is nothing which can change their fate as they are well endowed ppl. The cj’s type class always get benefits frm institutes, this is not new for pakistan. Iftikhar choudry got better cader n post for his son, dogar get better marks for her daughter and on other side poor pakistanies getting terrorism, hunger n disappointment.

I think Mr. Abbasi has done a wonderful Job. I do not agree with Ms. Saima’s point of view. we know there are good and bad people in every walk of life. But if someone is sharing with the public the other side of the coin, despite massive odds and threats. He really deserves high praise.

  • 5 Karim // Dec 3, 2008 at 2:48 pm

I want to congratulate him personally for his daring investigative reporting, especially those at helm of affairs.
if some one could provide his cell or Phone number i would really appreciate.

Samina might be Daughter of Doger, she praised Ansar Abbasi but dirt in her intention is so vivid.

You cannot malign or tanish the individuality and essence of this report. You cannot say to Ansar Abbasi that you did tht great why not this n that. He did great job, as Islamic is Divine Expression of Justice - So this issue is of core importance, Saying to someone -implicitly - that your own house is corrupt and your this report, for this reason, should be overshadowed is just a wishful but illintention approch.
I enjoyed the way Samina praised Ansar, I know you need to do so before opening your illintentions against any one. So her praise is beautiful, and take it from her heart, which is in fact her second part of her letter.

    Cheers

well done asar abbasi. very courage piece of work you have done, especially during this govt when our saien zardari has no idea where he is taking this nation , weak policies , weak and corrupt misters. i just hope that sien zardari sahib seek immediate consultation himself (mentally) and for county’ economy.

What do we think, Farah Hameed Dogar is superior than any ordinary Farah……… I salute Mr. Ansar Abbasi as at least he proved to be the first drop of rain. If we kept on putting the dirt under carpet then nothing is going to be corrected. Let the wrong doers be punished. Jeo Ansaar……

  • 10 Dr ALi Khan // Dec 24, 2008 at 11:11 pm

I would like to address all the readers: this is not a matter of Hamid Dogar or Ansar Abassi, this is something we all need to think about. Our great country has been hijacked by these few corrupts people (politicians & civil and military bureaucracy). They have been using all the resources of our country for their own benefit. The political system in this country can never be brought to good governance. However, the only way our country can raise to the high standards in the league of nations, is by way of fair judicial system. Today, Samia may be an advocate of Hamid Dogar’s daughter, but if God forbid, someone among this corrupt gang, do some wrongdoings to her, then she will have no other way to raise her voice, but to go to courts for justice. If we have Hamid Dogar and his friends sitting in the courts, what does she expect from them? It is just a matter of time, that every one of us will realise, how important is, a fair judicial system for own as well as our nation survival. So, i will request all of my country men and women, to stay hand in hand for restoration of Judiciary as well as for encouraging people like Ansar Abbasi, who are the real heroes of our country.

  • 11 Riaz Gondal // Dec 25, 2008 at 8:38 am

Samia may have a point that Ansar overstated the impact of a single seat on thousands of applicants even though other judge ’s more deserving kids have come forward for the seat.
I just read that Abbasi is receiving death threats because of his reporting and his expose’s.
I salute him for trying to do better for a land that no one has any hope of a wrong done ever being corrected. He has spared no one even Fazlu-R and his relatives even though they have same religious bent supposedly. The land was returned to rightful owners. CJ is totally corrupt and shameless and has not said a word and tried to silence him by other means. Abbasi exposed another scandal of several billions in the making with a British firms for PHA scheme. Let Ansar be our guide again and we do our small part to correct wrongs that we may see and that is how a society can change. If we all change ourselves then change can come without a revolution. Let us all agree we will never do anything ourselves to hurt our country and will never claim something we don’t deserve and that will be the best attribute to Ansar and others.

  • 12 Samia // Dec 25, 2008 at 2:24 pm

Who is the journalist who have two hotels and a CNG station in Islamabad, but he has never paid any tax ever for this profitable property?

  • 13 Riaz Gondal // Dec 25, 2008 at 9:37 pm

    Samia,
If you have something against Abbasi then you need to bring it to the media ’s attention.
His work against FL, and CJ and others have nothing to do with his having gas stations. CJ and others have done wrong and should be dealt with accordingly. If he has not paid taxes then why are Gilani/Zardar not taking action?

  • 14 Imran Ahmed // Dec 26, 2008 at 12:03 am

I cannot work out what has aroused the irrational ire of this author. Her arguments are shrill and without logic.

We need more investigative journalists doing more good work like Ansar Abbasi.

Innuendo is not good enough; maybe the author should have the courage to openly follow up her allegations and try to expose corruption where she sees it instead of criticizing others for not doing what she says should be done. I do not quite follow her argument but it rings of partisanship to a violence prone party.

I fear this Pakistani hero will also now be in the gun sights of politico terrorists from the Left as well as those of the Mullahs.

  • 15 tipu // Dec 27, 2008 at 4:24 am

we need to think what is goal of Pakistan if cheif Justice of pakistan have a this sort of character then we should condem it.

  • 16 aurangzen khan // Dec 27, 2008 at 11:13 am

Those who are criticising Ansar Abbasi instead of praising him are tlosers, corrupt, low life individuals who have no respect for themselves.

Moron Abdul Hameed Dogar is a bad name to whole pakistan. Dogar has no shame and his name will be written is history books as traitor.

Dogar has stood up with tyrant musharraf and he is equally guilty of abrogating the constitution of the country.

Zardari is supporting corrutp dogar because he himself is worst corrupt pakistan has ever seen. Zardari should be investigated for the murdur of benazir.

Zardari has no intention of honest inquiry into benazir murdur. Zardari in coordination with Rahman Malik has succeeded in removing nenazir from pakistan politics.

It is not rocket science to figure out by analyzing the interviews of benazir bhutto before her assasination ragarding zardari’s role in pakistan politics.

Benazir has announced categorically that Mr. zardari has no role in pakistan politics. Ch. iftikhar is the true chief justice of pakistan. Dogar is an ilegimate chief justice of the country.

  • 17 Riaz Gondal // Dec 27, 2008 at 9:57 pm

I think we should learn from Ansar and promise to ourselves that we will do at least one thing for Pakistan that is not expected of us.
Let us start another thread that will this is one thing I will do that no one expected of me but I will do because it will benefit.
I am thinking and it should not be a real sacrifice and it could something as simple as a friend offering to buy laptop for Children in Pakistan.
I will try to ask the webmaster to please start a new thread that this what I will do?
Can we call it an Ansar action ?
Plz let me know what you think of this idea?

  • 18 umeed khawaja // Dec 29, 2008 at 8:50 pm

    Hello Samia,
i am sorry to say but you seemd dobleface as beginning with appreciation and gradually exposing yrself as pleader of the corruption in pakistan. This is quite non-sense while justifying the one,s illigitimacy to the other,s yet all culprits got to be investigated & punished but it has to start somewhere.I salute from my hear to mr.Ansar Abbassi for his courage to bring all malicious to the public and remeber if mr.dogar is not doing justice for a very little desire for his daughter to become an m.b.b.s (even this does not suits him being CJ) doctor then what else one can expect from him.
    Ansar abbassi welldone.keep it up.Allah b with you.aameen.

  • 19 Dr Rizwan Siddiqi // Dec 30, 2008 at 12:47 am

The work done by Mr Ansar Abassi is very commendable and all journalists in our country should continue working on these lines. One thing I find very strange and that is when I got admission in medical college in 1983 there were 1000 marks in total (I think it is 1100 now) and a student who secured 661 marks on open merit had very few chances of getting admission in medical college on open merit. If the CJs daughter can get admission with these numbers now then this is very negative for the education system in Pakistan. This system should be changed and the kota system should be abolished.

  • 20 Shah // Dec 30, 2008 at 3:26 am

Somia. let me know did you get your education like that? As a Pakistani dont you feel, how many poor students we have in our country and they also have the right to get the further education just the normal way, and why you dont support Mr. Ansar Abassi, what did he wrong with you.

  • 21 sameena saudi arab // Dec 30, 2008 at 9:01 pm

ansar abbasi, let me clear firsr what abbasi’s of murre are…they are actually thunds (means to search), they after partition of pakistan named themselves as abbasis , though they have no relation with banu abbas of arabia.. they are the shoodars of north pakistan murree, kahuta, and azad kashmir. thund in dictionary of anthropology means : a group of low tribes. one of the poet in murre has written abot this tribe (self proclaimed abbasi’s) that ; aay qoum dhund apnay aaja ko… in makta says
jazam aata ha sadyoon say so pushtoon tak jazami ko
tameez e haq o baatal kabhi ho nahi sakti harami ho… it is about the thunds…so called abbasi’s
now towards this lack mailer… he is son of those fore fathers who use to drive a donkey in murre for tourists announcing..
    acho sir acho sir
    mara tattu good sir
    jheka gali two mile
    one rupee one mile
from there he emerged… according to few news reports, he ows a couple of hotels in faiz abad pindi, two houses in islamabad, a flat in dubai, guest room in bhurban and much more…. is this MUNAFIQ and TOPI DRAMA thinks taht he will befool the people… he was the one who on behalf on naeem bukhari wrote the story against iftikhar chaudhry, and when on that musharraf took action.. he joined iftikhar chaudhry… after seeing the mood of people.. he is a black sheep in journalist community… peolpe shold come out and ask him for so much property. second i request jang group, if they are true followers of mir khalil ur rehman to kick him out of their paper and send him to murree. donkeys are waiting for their master… am sorry for the readers to be so rude but m so true olso and truth is always bitter….

    HI Samina SA,
I think you have to be given credit for coming up with such original post that you have certainly made all those other saffarishi kids look good…I like the one about…
    mara tatu one…
Because most of us thought that all of you couldn’t pass fifth grade on your own and you needed you dadis and momas to get you to all other grades.
I don’t know to feel sorry for you or our country where people like you and from henceforth Ghonda known as Dogarchor feel proud to cheat others. This post though funny but still speaks a lot more about you then Ansar Abbasi. Anyhow what this post has to do with Dogarchore ’s daughter getting in to med school undeservedly?

  • 23 aurangzen khan // Dec 31, 2008 at 9:02 am

    sameena,

You must be born of a bastard and haram khor. Are you related to wasi zafar?
I do not want to insult you but you asked for it by insulting pushtoons. As i said there are very few morons, haram khor in this country who just for their own interests side with tyrants. This haram khor dogar and may be your dad as well both were indulged in unfair means accepting bribes. You must be raised on haram money and now that haram inside you is speaking speaking.

Ansar abbasi is true patriotic journalist and everyone in pakistan is proud of him for his true jouralism. Ansar and others like Talat hussain, hamid mir, kashif abbasi, iftikhar ahmad, mushtaq minhas, jawed nusrat are hope for the pakistani people.

People like you morons have damaged the country for their own interests. Zardari a S.O.B trying to be dictator on us. Go lick his B$%s. Ther are other morons like faruq naik, babar awan, latif khosa are already doing it go join them.

Stop telling the people of pakistan who they love and hate. People of pakistan have enough intelligence to know who are patriotic and who are traitor.

Abdul hameed dogar is disgrace to the judiciary. Dogar is a traitor and his name will be written in history books as selfish traitor.

Shame on you writting insulting words for whole abbasi tribe.

  • 24 Imran Ahmed // Dec 31, 2008 at 10:52 am

    Dear Sameena Saudi Arab

You seem to lack common decency. Because you dont like the message from a journalist you attack the personal character of the messenger. Apart from being unfair this is intellectually dishonest.

Going off at a tangent to the issue under discussion (which is Dogars’ misdoings) and attacking your opponent unfairly are tactic employed both by MQM and the Mullahs. It is a discredit to Pakistan that these kinds of tactics are employed by so called “educated” people.

Your note S from SA exhibits the lowest kind of racism, Caste and Class prejudices which are criminal offences in civilized country’s and possibly punishable under Sharia. You should be ashamed. I suspect you wont be.

If you have any proof of criminal wrongdoing by Ansar Abbasi please have the intellectual integrity to state it clearly and lodge a criminal case. Vomitting out poisonous slander and vague allegations does not help your case.

  • 25 Imran Ahmed // Dec 31, 2008 at 12:32 pm

    Dear Aurangzen Khan
While sympathising with the thrust of your note I must take issue with your provocative abuse. By using foul language you do our cause a disservice and play into the hands of these purveyors of hate and injustice.

  • 26 Riaz Ahmed Khan // Jan 1, 2009 at 12:23 am

    Aurangzeb,
Pathans carry a big banduk but they rarely use it and politeness and respect for women and children is their cradle. However, you first fired a pistol before you talked so you killed the messenger and the message?
As a Khan, I am really ashamed on your behalf for using this kind of foul language.
This is no different then all of us Muslims who fire before we talk hence no one listens. Let us educate ourselves that now a days word are still mightier then sword in most cases.

  • 27 Shah // Jan 1, 2009 at 1:54 am

Aurangzen Khan. I understand your feelings, you are totaly right, atleast you know the different between the wrong doing and right doing. What is happning in our country thats the out come of 60 years of zigzag styling of system bribe unjustice SAFARISH, FRIENDLY POLITICS, IN THE HAND OF THOUSANDS FAMILYS WHO ARE ENJOYING AND FUCKING THIS LAND WITH FOUR HANDS DAM CARING OF OTHERS,SHIT THROWING IN OUR HEADS DISGRACING US IN THE EYS OF THE WORLD, JUST LOOK ARROUND OURSELF THE COUNTRIES HOW THEY ARE LIVING AND HOW WE SURVIVING, WE ARE CRYING HARD BUT NO ANSWER AND IF SOME ONE WRITTEN SOME THING FOR US, THEY BECOME CRAZY AND TRY TO PUSH HIM IN A CORNER, BECAUSE HE IS RIGHT. GOD BLESS OUR COUNTRY AND PERSON LIKE YOU AND ANSARI.

  • 28 Ray // Jan 1, 2009 at 5:20 am

Dogar is not the biggest Chor?
I would have to agree with foulmouth that about time we did someting for ourselves. Why keep electing the same old Chord be it Zardari yah koi Aur.
We had hoped there will be democracy and we will see a new dawn in the nations of the World.
However, we were miatken and we have the same old chors doing the same old thing.
Let me ask me do you thing there is a single damn honest politicians in the lot.
Zardari is back to the same old tricks.
Why is he awarding the PHA contract to British firm?
Why did he appoint Rehman Malik IM?
Do you see connection between Britain, PHA, Malik and Swiss Bank Accounts same ones that BB has caught telling son Balawal that NSA had on her? do you think we have no builders in any other country including Pakistan to build some useless huts?
Why the whole Pakistan shedding tear on BB ’s demise? Becuase she would have done the same thing to son their offsring to western colleges and make them trillionaires instead of billionaires.
MQM and ANP are part of the game, let us loot and plunder with help of the British and the americans?
IS Nawaz and Shahbaz any better? May be but not by much? What plan have they introduced since they came back to better the economy?
Why did AZ wanted to get in power ? To get commission of the contracts?
When do you anticipate the Army to thorw the goones out because obviously we a are unable to do anything?
Do u miss Mush? I hated him but at least he was doing a few things for his country even if it was only In Karachi?

  • 29 M. Afzal // Jan 2, 2009 at 7:35 am

I fully aggree with Ray and Riaz Gondal’s responses to Ms. Samia’s unrealistic symapthies to CJ Dougar and his daughter’s in jacking up her grades. Even after a big jack up in Farah’s marks, she marginally attanied “B” grade…a minimum requirement to get in a Medical School of sub-standard.

I am curious to know what percentile of Samia’s own grades were jacked up. How come she could not distinguish between right and wrong thing? What sort of values she carries? She might have gone to a Military School where high brass ranks do all kind of things to get their kids through the system. If still their kids could not get through, they get commissioned in Royal Colonial Pak Army —-what a shame?

Its unfortunate she is blaming Ansar Abbasi . She is getting personal with Abbasis. What’s her own background? Which tribe she belongs to.

I would like to ask few additional questions from Samia:

    1) What’s wrong if Ansar or any other journalist have hotels, bungalows or other properties?

    2) What would be the future of Pakistan and it’s citizens if the country continues with a CJ of the caliber of Dogar?

    3) Don’t you think Dogar should come forward and explain to the people of Pakistan his perspective on jacking up grades?

    4) Do you think any current student in Pakistan will have any faith in the Justice System of Pakistan?

Pakistan needs more people of the caliber of Ansar Abbasi— a true hero. Ansar deserves a Tamga-e - Imtiaz (Civilian) from our great nation!

Samia probably needs to study at London School of Economics or at Harward to correct her compas.

Jee-ae Ansar Abbasi. Ansar hamara rehbar hee.

I am sure one day International Journalist Socity of America will honor Ansar’s boldness, fairness and fact finding reporting.

I oppose bullying and misuse of power - whether it by Dogar or by Taliban

  • 33 Ishtiaq Ahmed // Jan 4, 2009 at 10:45 pm

Hats off to Mr. Ansar Abbasi for being so courageous and upright. Dogar is not a CJ but a mockery of justice. Our corrupt rulers need corrupt CJ to stay in the corridors of power and plunder our hapless country and Dogar fits into that role better than anyone else. God save our dear home-land from these thugs and protect people like Mr. Ansar Abbasi from their conspiracies.

  • 34 Akram Ahmad // Jan 11, 2009 at 8:57 pm

well i think this has gone way off track, whats with the hype of Ansar Abbasi as a national hero or something, ok, as a journalist its his job. not a big deal. i guess saima is right, maybe not on the point that farah was sent to medical college, but on the point that who is going to investigate into the matters of these journalists. we all know whats happening inside. having some direct links into the journalist society, i firmly dont believe any top-notch or even middle-ranked journalist pays his taxes or they are accountable to the state, why??? because they are JOURNALISTS!!! everyone knows about the corruption in the government and the bureaucracy, no one investigates into that. ok, lets gat back to our dear CJs, where is Iftekhar’s son now? is he still on that job or what? Where is Dogar’s daughter now? who is going to do the followup? our nation is so sympathetic with the Bhutto’s that they selected the same old worldwide branded corruptors again. where is the story of Benazir’s killing? which of our HERO JOURNALIST has the guts to look into that story? NONE!!! believe me NONE! these journalists are also doing nothing to look into the real thing. is this not their duty? ok ansar did a good job on CJ, accepted, but what about our dear president? or the beloved PM? or other MNAs or MPAs we elected by our votes? where are their insde stories? i dont think anyone of you guys have been honest in their studies or jobs! everyone wants good marks in their studies, what dogar did for his daughter is i think natural for any father to do. Accept it! if any of your dad had such a job you would also want the same! its the truth! i dont mean to say Mr.Dogar was right, its the job of the journalist to inform the people and that should also be the truth. at this point not a single journalist is totally honest with his occupation. the real courage will be when the real and complete stories come up. half stories and followups wont work! the journalists of pakistan can work wonders but they would have to be honest to their profession. tell the world the truth first about you then the others. its then the change is going to come in here. find out the culprits, follow them to their homes, take them to the court. see if they get the sentence they deserve and keep the nation informed what you journalist guys did! then the journalists will deserve the real ovation from the nations heart!

I have mailed my comments a couple of times through mail, which I thought should have been included in this list. This discussion has carried too far and I have already objected to departure from decency especially against a lady. As muslims, we need to tone ourselves down. Let me suggest you guys (especially NaiTazi team) to be objective; let us open running files for i) Corruption ii) Nepotism iii) Favouritism iv) Unpatriotism v) Unprofessionalism etc. Dogar episode is recorded in i), ii) & iii). Ansar may fall in v) and if his stand is vindicated, would be honourably exonerated. We can record future cases similarly and see if there is some element of shame for the people committing such acts. In the process, we may generate a feeling of repugnance for such introvert attitude which is eating us all up as a nation. Who knows that efforts to maintain such files (subsequent cases included likewise) would provide a corrective signal to our social circuit for removing the bugs. We can request NaiTazi to depute a couple of hardworking members to follow up the cases and enter data sequentially in there so that the status is available to the readers. At times, it may be referred to media/judiciary/administration etc for getting updated information. The job is difficult but not impossible and carries a flag of objectivity. I hope all of us agree.

known for yellow journalism, and have known
reputation of being mouth pieces of vested intrests, your probing in this regard will expose
journalists like Ansar Abbasi, and you may desist and prefer to even talk of him, simply scorn may be your feeling for him.

  • 38 Imran Ahmed // Jan 26, 2009 at 9:29 am

Hey you guys please try a little bit of logic. Have you heard of “argumentum ad hominem”? Simply put it means the false arguments which are used when a person is personally attacked instead of his argument.
The journalists’ personal characters are spurious to their fact finding. Ansar IS a hero not because he is very clever as a journalist but because he does so while defying powerful people and at a danger to his self. Whether he allegedly mistreats his cat or runs traffic lights delays fajr nimaz or evades taxes is completely and utterly irrelevant.

I salute Mr. Ansar Abbasi for his courage and his great investigations about the wrong doings of the powerful.

The author is totally illogical and clearly shows that she wants to promote the corruption or corrupts both and wants to point fingers to people who are standing against the corruption and are trying to expose them. This is mere mud slinging against Ansar Abbasi.

I am NOT sure how can even think of saying that it didn’t become a mass denial of thousands of students throughout the country.

When no student is given the right of a re-assessment of papers in the past, how can she say that their right of re-assessment is denied when Farah DOGer’s papers were re-assessed and her 21 marks were raised. There are hundreds of thousands of student who failed in their exams by just a very few marks or they were denied of their grades just by single mark at times.

She should feel ashamed of her act and she owe apology from Mr. Ansar Abbasi

  • 42 Sohail // Feb 18, 2009 at 5:45 pm

The discussion is mainly revolving around two things; Ansar has done a job well-done (initiating a difficult case) and Dogar has done a bad thing (a paradigm shift in the concept of nepotism). My remarks in serial 35 have gone unheeded (I feel so). I would urge NaiTazi team to please have a crack at it and try what ever is feasible as per their capabilities and strength. Another suggestion is that they should atleast obtain a personal view from Ansar Abbasi as well to defend himself (in a polite way - as he is a soft spoken person). He must do it as he is an investigator. Also, he should be encouraged to keep on updating us (making a suitable arrangement) on the issue; the issue should not be left to die its death like many many other cases. One thing is sure: if Dogar is asked to justify himself, he would say, “iss hamaam mein sab nangay hein to mein nay bhi kapray utaar diyay………. Iss mein kiya BURAI hei!”.

    United Free Punjab

I think it’s time for all Punjabis in the world to rise up for a united and free Punjab. Punjab can’t continue the victimization of conspires over the centuries including recently by D. Zardari (so called president a product of NRO-Mushraf’s brain child and a gift to confused nation – Pakistanis). The recent below to Punjabis is the Governor Raj in Punjab.

Punjab should be a free independent country with its own constitution and its own flag. We can’t continue with the NRO produced democracy.

Punjabis – it’s the right time for us to declare independence from the crocket Pakistan Federation run by a Zardris and his slaves.

Long Last Punjab and God Bless Wisdom to Punjabis,

    Friends, Countrymen including fellow Punjabis!
Does the proposed United Punjab include only East and West Punjab or also the domains of Ranjit Singh?
But seriously, what our people need at this time is stability with the rule of law and the constitution. Anyone who talks about creating further disorder cannot be a friend of our people whether he talks of greater Balochistan, independant Karachi, United Punjab or of Sharia law. That is my twopenny worth on this debate which is far from the original topic.

  • 52 Sohail // Mar 6, 2009 at 5:57 pm

Let us put back the discussion on track. We are talking about improving systems in Pakistan and should not restrict ourselves to Punjab. Let others be also the beneficiaries. But we have to resolve:

    1. Evolve systems to bring down all negative elements of our society, i.e., lying, bribery, all sorts of corruption, tax evasion, fund siphoning beggary etc.

    2. Evolve systems to raise all positive attributes, i.e., extrovert behaviour, social justice, GDP, GNP per capita, health-care, donations, highest cost-benefit ratios in all respect for every conceived project etc.

    3. Each one of us should be aware of Dos and Donts.

    4. All people should mutually help together so as to make this country a model, a citadel of Islam.

    5. Let there be many more stalwarts like Ansar.

    Pakistan Zinda bad.

According to the Transparency International, we have almost been labled as the worst country (second-most, after Nigeria, in fact in the past). There is some upward push but it is far from the safe zone (especially when Mush-Zar cronies are around). Judiciary has all sorts of ills; Ch. Iftikhar has to clean the sty as his first priority. Then, he has to evolve fool-proof SOPs for the interfaces (like with government, commerce, traders, unions, international organizations, educational institutions etc) which would not only discourage corruption, bad-governance and pain to common man but also improve our international ratings. For that, he can ask Ch. Aitzaz, Munir Malik, Justice Tariq, Justice
Wajeeh, Imran Khan and the like to oversee the evolution of systems and procedures. These educated and God-fearing people would come up with a very healthy and implementable sequences which would remove bugs and improve efficiency thus reducing pain to general lot. Once these are clamped the other systems of check and balance should be in place, taking direct help of our inherent strength, that is islamic ideology, to prepare the new generations. The same thing has to be rolled on to our embassies and the army. Our army has to be made a model army of an islamic republic. …… It is not utopian, we need to have a will to have a crack on that. Niyyat theek ho gi to sab sahi ho jaeay ga, warna, ham batain our bahsain hi kartay rahein gay.

May Allah give us all the strength and will to do that. Pakistan has one advantage; we are 90% people who would join the 5% who are good. 5% bad would not change, but would stay calm in reclusion, waiting for the systems to be degraded so that they can make the hay even when the sun just starts shining. THIS HAS TO BE GUARDED AGAINST.

I just wanted to post an important and very disturbing piece of news here regarding Sardar Qamar Zaman ( leader of PPP’s Azad Kashmir Chapter and member of Legislative Assembly).
This man is one of th most corrupt/dangerous politicians I have ever known. Recently he has threatened to kill or kidnapp a family member of mine who refused to sell his land to this politician. He signed an agreement with local villagers that he would not bother them in exchange for votes. However, since he was re-elected he has distroyed the lives of many poor people in AJK and continues to do so. I thinnk Someone like Mr. Ansar Abbasi needs to invistigate this man before he kills some one. This is also destroying PPP’s Image in Azad Kashmir, I have sent e-mails to Dawn News and also to Geo News.

  • 58 Dr.Zubair Rehman // Feb 18, 2010 at 11:46 pm

    HE. Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhary

Chief Justice of Islamic Republic of Pakistan

Subject: Anomalies in the Wapda Education Wing

    Respected Sir,

Wapda is one of the most profitable and important national institutions of the country. Being one of the resourceful departments of the state it has various educational institutes mainly for the welfare of its employees. There is an utter lack of mismanagement in this organization. As a citizen of Pakistan and with a deep commitment with my homeland, I would like to bring forth certain stark realities based on gross corruption and lack of governance in the organization.

    1. There is a so called Directorate established at Wapda House Lahore to look after the affairs related to Education. The saddening fact about the directorate is that there is no educationist(Director Education) present to manage the fate of 46schools & 2 Degree colleges and only 01 Cadet College(Wapda Cadet College Tarbela Dam) across the country. It seems as if there is dearth of educationist in the country and especially in Wapda education department to run the affairs of the directorate amicably. People from administration and allied services are appointed to look after the fate of an important subject of education. There is a dire need to appoint a renowned educationist from the Colleges & school cadre of Wapda on seniority cum fitness basis to improve the lurking conditions. A seasoned educationist from Wapda Education (School & Colleges) with teaching plus administrative experience can better address the pressing needs of the institutions across the country. Moreover, it is the right of an educationist to look after the education affairs in a befiiting manner.

    2. Another important issue is the implementation of the Forth Tier formula for the up gradation of the teaching staff of the schools and colleges is not implemented so far despite repeated requests of the teaching staff. It has been duly approved and implemented in the federal government institutions of the country but Wapda being a federal organization is reluctant to implement it. Reward and punishment is the hall mark of teaching and learning process. Alas, the educationists in Wapda are punished because they are serving this federal organization irrespective of any reward. It is humbly requested that this federal law may very kindly be implemented in letter and spirit.

    3. A very important landmark in the history of Wapda education facility was the establishment of Wapda Cadet College at Tarbela Dam Project. It is a lamenting fact that this ill fatted college was apparently constituted to facilitate the employees of Wapda with excellent educational facilities. Unfortunately the institute is manipulated by a handful of people for their own vested interests since its inception. Brig(r) Zareen a crony of our late dictator Gen(r) Prevaiz Musharaf established this college and became the Principal (BPS-20) of the college without fulfilling the requisite qualification and selection criteria. At that time he like his godfather and benefactor Gen(r). Musharaf was enjoying multiple positions. Brig. Zareen was General Manager & PD Tarbela Dam, GM & PD Ghazi Brotha Dam. Thus benefiting from the full facilities of three lucrative positions illegally. The whole project of Wapda Cadet College is total mess and fraud with the whole Pakistani nation. The said Brig.(r) had no significant experience of teaching and educational administration neither fulfilled the credentials of being a Cadet College Principal. His appointment as GM & PD at important positions is even highly objectionable as there were many capable engineers from the rank and file of Wapda. College results and haphazard functioning of the institution will reflect the true situation if probed with objectivity and sincerity. Brig(r) Zareen has recruited many people illegally and many other teaching and administrative staff was hired on contract to run the show. The said boss of corruption and misappropriations had an associate to help and assist his evil anti-state & anti-nation designs at the Cadet College Tarbela. The name of the worthy partner of the corrupt team who is a facilitator of the nominated Brig® Zareen is Mr.Nazeer working as Vice-Principal at the college. Brig® Zaren visits the college rarely and the whole show at the college is run by Mr.Nazeer who is a retired teacher from Wapda Degree College Tarbela dam and notoriously famous for his corruptions. Brig(r) Zareen has appointed his son Nasrullah Nazeer at the college and they are also business partners in Cable business at Ghazi run by Nazeer’s younger son. A farce was very recently staged at this ill fated college and a new principal Prof.M Y B Chaudhary was appointed to further worsen the situations of the college. The new disaster further detoriated the situations and the new Princial dismissed (from service) many people including Mr.Nazeer, his son Nasrullah and transferring others back to Wapda. His tenure further proved to be fatal for the college. A few faculty members left the college and thus rendered huge academic losses to the college. He resigned from the college due to the unsuitable conditions by his own good self. The college was further devastated with the return of the native corrupt group in shape of reappointment of Brig (r) Zareen and his associates back in their positions. As per practice Brig (r) Zareen (GM & PD Northern Areas) being a sleeping beneficiary of the business and college visits the college very rarely. SIR MAY I ASK A QUESTION THAT HOW CAN A INSTITUTE RUN WITHOUT ITS HEAD? ALAS IT IS HAPPENING AND BRIG(R)ZAREEN IS NOT PRESENT SINCE HIS REAPPOINTMENT IN THE COLLEGE. The whole drama is restaged and the fate of the faculty, staff and the students is awaiting a savior. Sir, may I very respectfully ask a few queries taking it as right of being a loyal Pakistani. 1. Don’t we have educationist in the whole country? 2. Why the corruption of people like Brig(r) Zareen and others is still unchecked though in capital such people have been questioned through media and Assembly why not here? 3. Why are we deceiving our future generations?. There are number of heart lamenting questions that all of us must feel. Sir it is high time to probe into the above mentioned fact sheet and it is only possible if Wapda authorities are asked through a high profile enquiry committee comprising honest and dedicated people like your own good self to probe into the realities.

Respected sir you have achieved an unprecedented positions in the heart and minds of not only Pakistanis but across the world due to your upright stance in the face of a dictator. It is very rightly said that “Justice delayed is justice denied”. We being Pakistanis, Wapda employees, Teachers, Students and members of the civil society urge you to take a very strict action against gross mismanagement in the Wapda Education wing. Teachers and taught must be repected at any cost and there is no question on compromising on such issues.Your actions will always be remembered as a high act of bravery and courage to save the future of Pakistan. My Allah help and guide all of us in a right direction.Ameen!

    Truly Yours,

All Pakistan Wapda Employees, Parents, Teachers, Students & Civil Society
