dsc00047.JPGdsc00047.JPG  Islamabad - Human Relief Foundation (HRF) has benefited more than 18000 people through it’s initiatives in the year 2008. HRF is an worldwide non profit organization to provide emergency relief aid and assistance to the regions affected by natural or man-made disasters and its work subsists in more than 13 countries. It started its operation in Pakistan after the devastating earthquake hit the northern regions of Pakistan on 8th October 2005.In 2008, HRF did several projects which touched the lives of many deprived souls and spread smiles in a vast number of households. Firstly, HRF distributed food packages, containing ration enough for 15-20 days, in Muzaffarabad, Gujrat, Islamabad and Peshawar which benefited more than 6500 people who exist in dilapidated conditions or in refugee camps. In addition, on the occasion of Eid-ul-fitr,, HRF distributed approximately 1000 gifts which included stationary, food items and books to the normal and special children at the above mentioned locations. Innovatively, this year HRF launched a new program by providing cooked food so that the under privileged can also enjoy the festivities of the holy month of Ramadan. Auspiciously, more than 700 people benefited from this scheme. Secondly, HRF was one of the first NGOs to reach the earthquake hit areas in Balochistan, late last year. HRF identified during their survey that the people are in need of such products which will help them to brawl the cold season. Moreover, many organizations were providing food ration in the area but the people did not have the cooking utensils. Therefore, HRF provided people with gas heaters, tents & a set of cooking utensils so they can give their lives a reboot. Thirdly, through its Women Economic Empowerment Program in Hasilpur in association with Safe Winds Organization, the foundation has provided hybrid seeds and trained more than 300 females about kitchen gardening and an advanced form of irrigation – tunnel farming- all on gratis. Finally, through its Qurbani Project, HRF brought a secured its activities for the year 2008. This initiative provided meat packages to refugees, needy and underprivileged living in dilapidated areas of Muzaffarabad, Peshawar, Gujrat and Quetta. More than 1800 families i.e approximately 9000 individuals enjoyed the feast of Eid-ul-Adha. In 2009, HRF is looking forward to launch further projects related to the field of health, development and education. In that context, HRF has planned to make an orphanage, women training center, hospital, and a girl’s school. “We believe one should share wealth and wisdom with the needy so that equality in the social order is refurbished”, said the Director for Pakistan Office, Natheer Moaid.
